My mother was on Medicaid also and she passed away 4/9/09. She only had a bank account (joint, with me) and her belongings, such as furniture, clothes.

I wouldn't bother unless creditors are knocking at the door then turn it over to the public administrator.

Ohio has "summary probate for small estates", available if either the value of the estate is $35,000 or less, or surviving spouse inherits everything, either under a will or by law, and the estate is $100,000 or less. Ohio Rev Code Ann. s.2113.03
