If you don't know what the Patriot Act is, here's a summary:
The Patriot Act increases the ability of law enforcement agencies to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial, and other records.
In other words, the government violates your privacy but in hand strengthens security. Note that that does not state my personal beliefs and I won't be bias in choosing the top answer. The person that backs up their beliefs will be chosen top answer, no matter what their view on the Act is.

Why they call it the "Patriot" act I have no clue. There is nothing patriotic about having big brother looking over your shoulder anytime it damn well pleases. This is just another excuse to let the government extend its long arm into your lifes legally. Somewhere in there it also gives the president dictator control if **** hits the fan. Governments were supposed to protect the people, not invade their civil liberties. This is in no way a protection to "our" national security. |

Hell no. It totally strips us of many of our rights that American citizens once took for granted. And as for what's it's done to limit terror. Nothing. Zip! Nada! I say do away with the damned thing. |
