It is okay, but the US needs to take a look at other countries where they don't really have a drinking age and it is acceptable for younger kids to drink a glass of wine on a special occasion. It seems that these countries do not have the same alcohol related problems that the US does. I think that maybe b/c here it is such a bad thing to give anyone under 21 a drink, that kids will do it to be rebellious, etc. Maybe if it was more socially acceptable, by the time they were in thier teens and early 20's, they wouldn't have such a hard on to get wasted...just a thought |

I think that drinking should be postponed until the late twenties, when the brain has had a chance to fully develop. |

I agree with age 21. We can better expect the people to be More Mature. |

They probably think that people are more in control and responsible at that age. The reality is, when someone wants to drink, they're going to get it somewhere and do it, no matter what age they are. And if they're going to do something stupid (like plow their car into a school yard full of kids), they're going to do it. Age limit doesn't stop anything today. |

If you are considered mature enough to fight and die for you country a 18, you should be able to have a beer as well.
I think 18 is appropriate |

In all honesty the drinking age should be 18. in my highschool, i would honestly say 90% of the kids drink. so honestly what is the point |

I'm from the UK where the legal age to buy alcohol is 18. There is a lot of media attention here to under age drinking and the problems it causes. Here and in other countries I don't think changing the age limit will stop problems but will just mean the problems will occur to different age groups. I think that the problems caused are mainly due to the fact that when first starting off drinking people don't know their limits and end up drinking way too much and getting in fights or having accidents etc. I found as I got older I learned to say "Right that's enough. Anymore alcohol and I'm going to behave really stupid falling over, being sick etc." What ever the age you will always have people behaving inappropriately. |

I think it should be 18 again like it was when I was growing up, if one can die for their country at 18, they should be able to have a drink before they go. |

Yes, I think that 21 is appropriate legal age as far as being able to drink. With age comes wisdom and better choices.
I think it's better when a person is 21 since they are more apt to be on their own, so that they will be more responsible.
When I was growing up, I live in Wisconsin and back then the legal drinking age was 18. While all of us thought it was great, really it was pretty bad. We often went to school the next day after going out partying and we were hung over. Not a great way to go through school.
It really would have better to have been more responsible, to have been older.
One could say that it's easy for me to say since I was able to drink legally at age 18. I did manage to get the view of both ends of the stick if you will.
I moved to San Diego, Ca when I was 20 years old, even though I was married I was no longer able to drink since I was under 21. It didn't bother me to have to wait until I was 21 for it to be legal for me to again drink.
Shortly after moving out here I found out that I was pregnant, so it was a good thing for me to not be drinking.
Now I very seldom drink, I can take it or leave it.
BTW: I'm now 50 years old and it isn't as big of a deal to me weather I have a drink or not. |

im 20. i've definetly drank before. i have about 8 months till im 21. i think they chose 21 because ur expected to have a level of responsibility at that age and not be drunk all the time. like when your 21 u def a job of some kind and other things to handle so drinking at that point isn't necessarily priority #1. |

NO. It causes many deaths. If we compare ours to other societies we would see less driving deaths related to drinking in other countries. We should raise the driving age and lower the drinking age. Driving 18 Drinking 16 |

It should not be allowed. They repealed prohibition because people were pore and depressed (ie the depression) rather than try to remedy the situation. It is a drain on our society and offers no benefit. This will never happen, but as much as people would hate it, we would all be much better off. |

I think you should be able to drink at 18
Here's a couple reasons:
-You can smoke, which is just as bad
-People can join the army at 18, and when they come back, they cant even drink [if under 21 when they come back]
-and people who get married at 18-20 cant even drink at their weddings. I guess their mature enough for marriage, but not alcohol |

What's the point? Teenagers are still going to drink even if you lower the age or not. |
