Do you think Marijuana is more destructive to society than Alcohol?

I definitely do not think it's more destructive to society in any sense of it's use. But Marijuana-related incarceration is pretty destructive to society. Tons of people are being harassed, fined, and even jailed because of our bogus drug policies. I say "bogus" because the US isn't concerned about public health as much as profit making, control, and world hegemony.

Marijuana's a weed and would be hard to regulated and tax if people just grew it in their backyards. It's also not detrimental to your health, in comparison with legal tobacco and alcohol. The so-called "drug war" is just a way to funnel tax payer money to brutal and tyrannical regimes across the world who condone our multi-national corporations and their exploits.

Lastly, the US benefits from marijuana and other illicit drug policy because it allows government to get rid of troublesome and unnecessary (to profit and taxing) parts of the population.

I think it's pretty clear, although unconventional, that Alcohol is a lot more destructive to society than Marijuana.

Hell no, alcohol has torn apart far more families and marriages than marijuana ever could. It's nowhere near as dangerous as booze, crack, and heroin.

Prohibition didn't work for alcohol, it's not working for marijuana.

Let's legalize weed, and tax the crap out of it!

Think about it, we'd save money by not throwing people in jail for these stupid possession laws, and we'd make some money through the taxation of marijuana. It's fiscally unsound to not be doing this! We're wasting money by throwing potheads in prison, and we're not taking advantage of a potential lucrative source of income.

i do think alcohol is much worse although more excepted. i think alcohol make people violent. think about it people who get high they dont really get in fights they just want to sit down and relax and laugh and drunk will cuz high temper cause fights. i have done both so i speaking how it makes me feel but i belive its pretty much the same with everybody. and about that its a gateway drug i B/S i never tried anything else nor did i want to it has been offered plenty of times and i always told them to get that s--t out of my face. i think it should be legalized but treated the same as alcohol.

Alcohol kills millions of people in the US, destroyes familes and causes domestic violence. ACtually almost 50% of domestic violent crimes are alcohol related.

Weed on the other hand has killed noone, since its impossible to over dose on it. Weed doesnt cause domestic violence, it promotes peace and love man! and the gateway drug theory has been disproven since the same claim can be made for the legal drugs such as Alcohol and tabacoo.

Alcohol is worse. Five of my close family members have been killed by drunk drivers. And the drivers all got out alive.

all drugs have side effects some good ,some bad. marijuana was not illegal until 1933. it has medicinal benefits. like any other drug , excessive use or abuse will increase the side effects. we live in a drug culture where pharmaceutical companies make millions as do the alcohol manufacturers. making marijuana illegal is all about the money. alcohol is most definitely more dangerous. cigarettes are right up there with the other dangerous legal drugs.

Both should be illegal or legal, instead of one being illegal and the other being legal.

Added: The Fast food comment above I agree with. That is the worst drug on sale right now and you give it to your children which makes you in the same mould as a drug dealer.

Nice Try.....if weed had been legal, and we had the years of data we do with booze, who knows what the stats would reveal. The problem with dope is you become overly complacent and put things off fore ever. with booze your usually rational in the morning. People who need it for therapeutic reasons should have avenues of access but the government can't condone a populace of mindless zombies and the therapeutic avenues have already been exploited in Ca. I believe we should save it for the retires.... They have earned the right to let their minds go numb...."joke"

THC, (Tetrahydocannabinal), becomes part of the brain cell. If it takes 5 marijuana joints to get you high initially, eventually it will take you only one but you don't know it and you keep smoking 5. It's called becoming a mushhead.

By what you said it sounds like alcohol is more distructive. Alcohol is not illegal, but marijana is, so that prooves a little bit that marijana is worse. Also, are you saying that we should not enforce marijuana probation? Do you think that it should not be illegal? I dont see any statictics of marijauna. If you put some of those, maybe I'll reconsider, but I believe that marijuana is worse.
