Absolutely, but at the same time, I don't think it should be used as a form of birth control - more as a last resort type thing. |

No more than murder, rape, or theft should be an individual decision. |

Yes and the baby should have a say so since it's him that's paying with his life for a woman's stupidity |

since when is murder and individual choice - for the one being murdered. the choice is to get or not get pregnate, if you make a mistake or another person does in the area of rape, why should the innocent get murdered. its thier body that get mutilated and destroyed you know. |

YES.
Saying someone cannot get an abortion when a problem pregnacy risks her life, or if she was raped, is totally unfair.
We need to maintain the rights we have now. |

i hope i don't make you angry but if i do I'm sorry ,the decision should should have been made before the baby was conceived i don't think abortion is right that baby didn't ask to be put her nor did it ask to be murdered if only people would use protection and common sense abortion would be a thing of the past |

Sure. But the person deciding to do so must be ready to deal with the consequences of their decision. |

Yes with certain provisions. There HAS to be parental notification for those under 18. For a married couple, the spouse needs to be notified. Otherwise....what a woman does with her body is her business. The citizens of this country cannot allow people to live their lives without resposibility or accountability for THEIR actions. |

It is a tragic of option of last resort, but I do believe in a woman's right to choose. |

Isn't that what it is now? People are not mandated to have an abortion or to carry the baby till birth, they get to make the decision on an individual basis. |

I feel that abortion should not be used for a means of birth control. If a woman is raped or she can't have the child due to medical reasons, I feel that this is also legitimate. There are many options if you don't want to keep your baby. My ex-fiancee had an abortion, and it still bothers me to this day at times. |

There are many different reasons one may want an abortion.
Rape, Incest..... |

Yes, we got way too many people in poverty already. We need quality not quantity. In fact abortion is said to decrease the total crime rate in the US according to a well know book author. |

No it should involve both parents. |

The decision on whether or not to do it should not be an individual decision. Two people were involved in the creation of that life, so two people need to decide whether or not to abort it.
It should be the individual states' decision on whether or not it should be legal, not the federal government. |

No question, YES.
The terror I feel for our women if Govt should ban such a basic choice is very real.
A women should always have a right to choose.
Opponents claim the pregnancy should be continued and the baby put up for adoption. Have they considered the possibility that once the birth takes place the mother may quite likely keep the child. These children are typically raised in low income situations and have huge disadvantages in their upbringing. Often these mothers do not have the means to feed, clothe and supply medical treatment and the children are to suffer as they have no voice. The children once grown up tend to follow the same path continuing the cycle of hardship. How can a govt choose for this?
It is wrong to throw women back to the days when abortion was illegal and many women died trying it with back street doctors in unsanitary conditions. |

This is a very difficult subject for a lot of people. My religion (catholic) says that to not try to stop someone is a sin. It also is heated on the determination of if you define the unborn "baby" as a fetus or a baby. I feel that if you are going to do it, just do it and keep it to yourself. If you chose not to then congrats on your new child.
Basically why should anyone decide for you. Its your body. Besides if we start choosing for people we will have re-occurrences of the 40s where women used coat hangers to do their own D & C (dialate & clear) and died from it. |

The decision
I feel that the decision that causes one to decide the life of one is wrong, but to decide to bring a life in this world
with no support, no love, and no protection from all the dangers that this world have given our youth that are lost
is slowly killing them anyway. So to agree with all the other answers on the line, my answer is yes! |
