Do you think abortion should be made legal?
Find answers to your legal question.

Do you think abortion should be made legal?

okay arguments i've heard:
1. The preborn baby is not a living human being yet.
wrong. basic biology shows a fetus is a human being. if it's not a living human, why do 37 states and the fed government have laws charging two counts of murder when a pregnant woman and her baby are killed?

2. women should have a right to choose.
first of all, dont get pregnant in the first place. abortion uses the slogan "the right to choose" to take away from what they're doing- destroying a living, growing human life.

3.if abortion is illegal, women will turn to dangerous illegal abortions like before.
the number of illegal abortions before legalization in 1973 was exaggerated for political reasons. early abortion advocates admit to that.

4.a woman should be able to control her own body.
the baby is not part of the woman's body. yes it depends on it but he is not part of it.

i've even heard she has a "right to privacy". a right to privacy doesn't make it right.
abortion is murder of a living child. the fetus is just as much a kid as a little 2 year old.

No. Nor should it be legal to kill any other member of your family.

Abortion isn't illegal. What's not illegal is legal.

But if you take your way of thinking to it's logical conclusion then you impose an obligation on every woman to bear at least 53 children to avoid "killing" the egg cells that would otherwise be discarded.

There should be no laws attempting to prohibit a woman's choice in the matter.

abortion is already legal.

first of all, abortion is legal and even if it was illegal people would still get them and go to back alleys to get them. That is what used to happen and the people who got them would die. A woman should be able to make the choice. What if the baby was born into a family that could not take care of it?

a fetus, scientifically is a parasite because it does not contribute nutritionally to the mother.

I don't care if ghandi is growing inside of me, I have a right to work, live, and continue. Sorry Ghandi.

morning sickness, nausea, and back pain should be a choice. No one should be forced to endure joblessness and pain.

It is unfortunately legal, but it shouldn't be for many reasons including the ones you mentioned. Good for you for making a stand keep up the good work.

I think it is wrong. HOWEVER, it should still be legal. why? because it should be up to the mother to decide whether or not she wants to have an abortion. the mother, and the mother alone. NOT the government or right-wing conservative christians. I mean, what christian thinks it's right to tell an atheist she can't have an abortion? if that woman has an abortion and goes to hell, then that's HER choice. if you "pro-lifers" don't like abortion, then don't get one. but DON'T infringe upon the personal lives of other people, ESPECIALLY if you don't even know them.

mind your own business.

The first four points are arguments. The Roe v. Wade case hinged on the right to privacy. In other words, the state cannot interfere with the doctor-patient privacy issues, such as medical procedures. If the state cannot get testimony, the abortion laws become unenforceable and unconstitutionally invasive. Note: it is a bit unclear whether the court meant the patient's privacy, or the doctor's. The law holds either way.

Whether the court should have created a right to privacy, or whether they should have considered other arguments (like the four above), is up for question. The reality is they didn't.

It would be difficult, or probably impossible, to overturn Roe v. Wade (political candidates posturing aside) without eliminating a person's privacy rights. If that is what anyone wants.

My personal opinion is that there is no one on the planet that can better tell if the child will be wanted and receive the love an attention it deserves than the mother. So, any decisions should be hers.

Anyone saying that abortion should be illegal should think of what the consequences of having illegitimate children in our society and this planet will bring.

What happens when there is an overpopulation of people in one geographical area = disease, natural resources are threatened, poverty, crime and overall its a crime against this planet.

I'm for life, but sometimes we need to help the entire planet control our plague of overpopulation. People make mistakes and if they are not ready for kids, let them decide what they want to do.

Infanticide is an awful way to control overpopulation, but that will soon be the other option if abortion is made illegal. India now suffers one of the worst cases of overpopulation and hunger among children. Before India was colonized by Britain, they controlled their population with infanticide.

Let adults make their own choices what they want to do with their bodies as long as its not infringing on other people's rights.

There are too many people for this planet to sustain. We are cutting down more trees, polluting more waterways, overfishing our tuna...

The same people who complain about abortion being illegal are the same ones living in four bedroom homes with two SUVs producing more trash and pollutants than an entire village in a fourth world country. In addition overpopulation will create poverty. Poverty usually means hunger and hunger means raping the environment to survive, e.g. Haiti.

Just look around and tell me, do we need more people in this planet?

Abortion advocacy is leftist propaganda. They pretend that they are helping but are actually just keeping people trapped in their ignorance.

Every wonder why the majority of abortion clinics are in minority and underprivileged neighborhoods and not in white ones?

1. The preborn baby is not a living human being yet.
wrong.

Let’s hear what the Brilliant Economist, Scholar, Historian, Moral Philosopher & Anarcho-Capitalist, Professor Murray Newton Rothbard has to say on this topic: “Most fetuses are in the mother’s body by the mother’s freely-granted consent. But should the mother decide that she does not want the fetus there any longer, then the fetus becomes a parasitic “invader” of her person, and the mother has the perfect right to expel this invader from her domain. Abortion should be looked upon, not as “murder” of a living person, but as the expulsion of an unwanted invader from the mother’s body.” Murray they go on to argue that a mere promise is not a legal contract & one can’t have any legally enforceable contract with an unborn child.

2. women should have a right to choose.

Well, I agree with you, let me put an analogy about The Rothbardian ethic of Contract Compulsion.
Let’s assume for the sake of an argument that an implicit contract has moral & legal validity. I am driving my car through the highway. I meet you in the middle of the journey & am offering you a lift. The vehicle reaches near an abyss & I am now speeding up the car and shouting at you-“How dare you invade into my property? Get down!” Is it right or wrong? If not, why? There is an implicit contract here and one can’t have any such contract with an unborn child, you say? Very well! Imagine it is your new born child that I am giving a lift-with your consent, of course. What if I am doing it to him? This is very much similar to a mother deciding to abort the child. There is an implicit contract with you, you say? Very well! Imagine now, that you agree to me that I can force him to get down from the driving vehicle whenever I want. Am I wrong in doing so? If so, in what sense? Our contract was that I am free to do so & the child, apparently is not capable of making any such contract. This is very much similar to both parents deciding to abort the child. Do I not have the perfect right to aggress against that invader? One should further keep in mind that Murray & other libertarian thinkers do not agree to the legal enforcement of implicit contracts & promises. None of the counter arguments I made above has any validity under such premises.

No. There's a heartbeat 3 days after conception. That's scientific evidence that substantiates that the fetus is a human life.

Abortion is murder!

America has already murdered over 50,000,000 innocent, harmless, defensless little babies since 1973. That's a far worse human rights record than even the 16,000,000 that the Nazi's murdered during WWII.

The real question is, when are pro-life voters going to realize that Republicans are pro-choice just like Democrats?

Between 2001-2007 Republicans controlled the Presidency, the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives but failed to pass into law a Bill, submitted by Congressman and Doctor Ron Paul, which defined abortion as murder. This legislation would have ended abortion on demand and treated medical professionals, lay persons and parents directly involved in murdering babies as criminal murderers facing those consequences in a court of law.

If you are truly passionate about ending abortion, and saving human lives, then you can no longer vote Republican because they tabled Dr. Paul's Bill and refused to act upon it.

Christians can no longer support the party that is the lesser of two evils because supporting the lesser of two evils still yields evil.

If someone fails to use birth control, or remain abstinent, that's their choice. But why murder innocent, harmless, defensless little babies just because you a few minutes of pleasure?

You have a right not to spread your legs!

As for rape and incest, those abortions account for only 1-2% of all abortions. 98% of abortions take place due to women spreading their legs willingly. That's over 49,000,000 out of the 50,000,000 babies that America has murdered since 1973.

It's a sickness that has spread like cancer and must be eradicated! You can kill cancer in it's tracks and we can end abortion on demand but only if we're willing to stand up and counted.

Um, it's legal the last time I checked. It should be, but it's something that should only be used as a last resort or post-rape sort of thing. It's really quite evil.
