The more research that is done on marijuana the more it looks like it is as bad as or worse than alcohol.
As is the case with all drugs, they are poisonous to some degree. That is why the give you a buzz. That is also why most medicinal drugs work.
So we should always be careful about what drugs we use. |

It IS worse. How many people have alcohol killed and how many people have died over weed? |

I do know that when both are used excessively that they are bad, but I have never seen an angry pot smoker, but I have seen more than my fair share of angry, out of control drunks...... |

No doubt. AA doesn't exist the world over for no reason. |

yes i do cause drunks sometimes gets angry, misunderstand things, do stupid things they would not do if they were not drinking......marijuana just makes you laugh or mellow out and makes you want to eat.........i have seen far worse things happen when people get drunk.........but i am glad to say i do not live such a lifestyle anymore........... |

I think that it is because I have never heard of anyone puking their guts out from weed or getting "marijuana poisoning". |

by far!!! alcohol leads to drunk driving, innocent people dieing and such things as abusive parents. It also can leave a maaaad hangover for you. although weed is not a healthy alternative, it may be a safer one for you and those around you. you don't hear about anyone smoking and hitting a little kid with there car or smoking and accidently over dosing.
its better, but probably never will be legal. government is far too touchy about the subject. no one wants to be the one who legalised tree. |

probably...it's more damaging. binge drinking is more harmful every weekend than if you were to smoke pot on the weekend...assuming it's not laced with something |

I have never used Marijuana but I have had my issues with alcohol. Im 39 years old and I have cirrosis of the liver and I also have to go and have a EDG done every six months because in 2003 I was puking blood. I had thrown up so hard the blood vessels in my esophogus ruptered and I nearly bled to death. I have to go in every six months to have bands put on the veins in my throat so I dont bleed to death. The chances of me dying if I ever touched another drop is great. |

It's not a matter of which is worse. The smartest thing to do is to consider both of them bad. Think about it like this. Why take a substance that's not going to keep you in your right mind. They both can make you vulnerable to God knows what....or who. |

Yes, alcohol can impair someone to violence, and they can asphyxiate. People need to learn how much they can take. It's actually chemistry when it comes to how easily drunk you can get, not how "man" you are. It depends on pH levels.
Marijuana is not bad for you at all. The education on pot is so deceptive it's unreal. Do they ever tell you in school that marijuana was originally banned due to racism in New Orleans? No. As with anything, moderation is the best policy, but you can get tar if you use it a lot. You cannot get cancer. It's never been proven. No one dies from pot use. There is NO such thing as a physical dependence on it. Your body actually has cannabinoid receptors in your brain!
The Founding Fathers of the U.S. smoked pot. Neither is bad when used in moderation. Both can be bad if used excessively. |

HELL YES! i think it's much worse. i think alcohol should be illegal instead. |

Yeah i think it is, speaking from personal experience,
Alcohol is much more physically addicting, causes more accidents, and i never got in fight stoned.
Do i think there should be laws for weed like alcohol, Yes, and i will be in line for a license to open that bar |

I think alcohol is worse, there are more DWI accidents than DUI accidents, meaning most people have more driving accidents under the influence of alcohol than marijuana. |

Actually yes.
I don't approve of either drug, but certainly more people have died from alcohol abuse than marijuana abuse. |

I think marijuana is worse--only because most people are so niave and dissagree! I just did a paper on keeping marijuana illegal --heres some things I pulled from my paper:
According to Results from the 2005 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug among adolescents. Teens who begin Marijuana use at an early age when the brain is still developing may be more vulnerable to neuropsychological deficits, especially verbal abilities. Within the past year, the Preliminary Data on Drug Use & Related Matters Among Adult Arrestees & Juvenile Detainees has found out that the use of Marijuana can produce adverse physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral changes. Also, most people disagree, but Marijuana actually is an addictive drug. Marijuana smoke, like cigarette smoke, can harm the lungs. The use of Marijuana can impair short-term memory, verbal skills, and judgment and distort perception. It also may weaken the immune system and possibly increase a user's likelihood of developing cancer.
However, the Institution of Medicine (IOM) recently found that there was no scientific evidence that smoked Marijuana had medical value, even for the chronically ill, and concluded that, "There is little future in smoked Marijuana as a medically approved medication.” Still, researchers have not found scientific proof that smoked Marijuana is medicine. There are other medications, such as “Marinol” that provides a safe capsule form of synthetic THC that meets the standard of accepted medicine and has the same properties as cultivated Marijuana without the high. This real medicine is for the treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy and for the treatment of wasting syndrome in AIDS patients. A study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, found that a moderate dose of Marijuana alone was shown to impair driving performance; however, the effects of even a low dose of Marijuana combined with alcohol were markedly greater than for either drug alone. |
