I think YES sometimes maybe they do. BUT I will say that is more likely to happen on bigger departments. One where you might not be able to identify the cop. Only because you don't know his/her name or have the badge number. And I think that this is also on a very very small degree. For the most part cops don't overstep there power/authority. |

on the whole no.
they have a very hard job.
if people were honest and law living there would be no cops, so they are not the abusers to me... the criminal is the abuser of the system.. |

Yes. Most of them do. That's why they became pigs in the first place. So the could feel important. There is a very fine line between a cop and criminal. |

Because they think they can....The most of the time they support each other.....How many times have you seen cops racing down the highway...then pull in the middle .to wait for someone speeding....ya right...they do what they want....We all have to get together and go againt them.. that we never happen.... |

It depends on which countries. Most developed countries have good cops. Some countries have abusive cops due to corruption. But most cops are responsible of their authority. |

Yes, like any proffession there are quotas and it's alot easier to meet that quota by arresting poor people than it is trying to go after the rich... |

The police do not work for us. They work to protect corporations and governments (same thing these days) FROM us.
What pisses me off is. IF these corporations and govts did the right thing they wouldn't need protection from us.
Yes they abuse their power all the time. Every time they can.
If you live in America... (I don't, by the way) They abuse their power all the time every time they ignore The US constitution and the first ammendment in particular. It is your right to protest and meet to discuss methods to uphold your REPUBLIC.) It isn't a democracy. |

Here in the Philippines Yep! cops here really do that waaayy often...they collect money from Public Utility Jeepnies and from Buses too! they really "bum" people here specially those who does driving for a living...i think they should stop doin' that so people in our country will trust their protective well-beings... |

Cops sometimes abuse their authority when they are in ahurry to get some where when they are off duty, but in their car. I usually see a cop going about his business in the streets, but when he gets to one stoplight, he turns onthe sirens, goes through the light, and then turns them off and keeps going. |

I can only speak for South Africa.
Cops are under paid, and over worked, and due to that would not surprised me if they did abuse their authority. |
