Well....you should have called him in advance to cancel....anyway my doctor doesn't charge anything when I just forget an appointment...true that it costs him money....but he makes a lot of money anyway....I don't know if in US is legal or not...but if my doctor would send me an invoice for 40 bucks because I missed an appointment...I would change doctor. Once my dentist forgot an appointment with me...so I lost two hours of my time....he said I saw you in the waiting lounge, but since I thought you didn't have any appointment I didn't call you! I said I am gonna change dentist...and I did. Sometimes they just think they can rule the world... |

This is legal. Your cancelling at the last minute has prevented another patient from being able to see the doctor. |

Do you call and cancel or just not show up? Their time is valuable and you waste it - they can charge you> |

A business making money off customers...go figure.
As long as it is a posted condition of service and you
violated it, it's legal.
You are always free to pick another doctor. |

Not unless you sign an agreement saying so. If they charge your credit card, you can contest and win if you did not sign it. It is really an empty threat and they cannot really do it or report you to the credit bureaus. |

I live in Texas and my dentist does this. If you miss an appointment you get charged. |

I'd say this is reasonable.
If you miss your appointment, it costs the doc money because they could have been seeing someone else.
Lots of businesses have cancellation fees. |

Doctors are free in this country (Canada). |

when they make an appointment for you, it takes away a slot for somebody else. If you don't show up they lose that money. |

I suppose they can do anything they want if there's no law against it. Your best revenge is to never go back and to tell others of your experience. |

as long as they have "attempted" to inform you before you booked the appointment |
