Is your friend making more money? If so, that could be the reason why the child's mother keeps going to the courts. Is your friend married? If so, the mother is more than likely going after not only his money but his spouses (a friend of mine had this done, her husband & his wife got divorced, several years later he & my friend married and the ex went after him for more money because the courts said that my friends money was not part of his money. Needless to say, my friend & he divorced...on paper only.).
Your friend needs to get a good lawyer to help him fight the issue of paying more and more support. Could be that the mother just doesn't want to work or support the child therefore is going after your friend to support both her and the child. Any way you look at it your friend really needs to get a good family lawyer to help him work this out.
If he has questions he might want to go on to allexperts.com and find a family lawyer either located in his state to help him out or just in general to ask a few questions. This site is free so he can ask "the experts" some questions without having to pay the hourly fee. Then once he has some answers he can be well armed and find a good family attorney.

The only time that child support should be raised is if there is a significant increase in wages earned, and the job has remained steady for a substantial amount of time. Unfortunately that is not how it is, although there is the possibility that he could file some kind of paper work to get it lowered and to possibly have an investigation launced if he can prove any wrong doing. I happen to live in a State that awards custody in just about every case to the mother, even if the father has a better past work record and even criminal record. |

I have a 17 year old daughter and have received very little support, her bio father has nothing to do with her. I have seen men pay so much they could barely make it by their selves, plus help in the care of their children more then just every other weekend or every weekend. Sometimes it seems really unfair, but kids are expensive. |

you may not like my answer but the only way a judge will raise child support is if the father is earning more and can afford it if its to much for him he can petition the courts to lower it the are not being punished they are being forced to pay for their children which all men should do he should be happy he can just see his children but im sure theres more behind this story then you know or said |

Well, we all have to pay for our mistakes. It is his responsibility to provide for his child. He needs to make an real effort to remain civil with the ex. It is not in the childs interest for the parents to be fighting. Once they are separated they really don't have a good reason not to get along.
If you're involved with the babydaddy you should take note that he is mistake prone. If you can live with that fine. But, you may as well get used to the fact that a percentage of his income is going to the child and if the babymomma has the child she's going to decide how its spent. Learn to live with it. Or find someone less mistake prone. |

is he with his child 247? is he there when she is sick or cries at night? does he come get her on the weekend or just when the baby momma says so.... they have to get along b/c they have a child together but after that it get boring fussing and arguing all the time. at one point in time they did like each other they will get over sooner or later ! what need to do is grown up!

You must be leaving some facts out. The court does not just up the child support on no grounds but the mother asking for it. The baby's father's income must have gone up. The law has a certain formua it follows to determine child support, and if your income goes up, the formula is revisited with the new data. A parent must, by law, give a child the best they can afford. |

I'm not saying that what she's doing is right, but it costs a lot to raise a kid. The price of everything is going up all the time. I don't know about where you live, but here, in New Hampshire, they can take up to half of the net income for child support. |

Do you have any children ? I have 2 and I have to sometimes remind him that it cost alot more than he pays a month to maintain them every day. Unfortunately the good guys pay the bad ones it's society. |

I'm a male single parent of a 7yr. old lil girl who's mother has never been on the scene. I raise my child by choice and love her irregardless of what her mother does. I don't feel that it is right for anyone to force someone to do for their child if they aren't willing because I firmly believe that the say will come when that bill will ultamately be paid in full by the missing parent one way or another. Money or the lack thereof is not the deciding factor as to whether or not a child recieves what they need most while growing up, LOVE. That's priceless. And those who turn to the courts for thier quote unquote child's sake and doing nothing but living a lie anyway in my opinion. I base that statement on this question: "Why turn to the very source that seeks to someday pay homage to my child through the Department of Corrections as soon as they can?" A question from a single parent, black male, aspiring attorney. Check yourselves sista's. |

I once worked with a man that was divorced.
He had a child with his wife. Upon splitting they sat down together and made a reasonable attempt to determine the actual cost of raising a child.
When they reached an agreement, they divided that sum in half. He pays his half, She keeps the child, and pays the difference.
I think this is what the courts attempt to achieve. But when opportunists are involved...
I have to ask..
Has the mother done anything to increase her income outside of the support payment? (A JOB) Or is she spending her time filling out forms at various government offices? |

as children get older they cost more shes right. and just because your friend id a "good dod" doesnt mean he shouldnt have to pay more money for his childs care |
