Marijuana should be legalized for everyone of legal age. The day is coming! To ruin families because someone wants to smoke pot in the comfort of their homes after a long day at work, and to imprison otherwise law-abiding citizens is a CRIME in itself. Absolutely it should be legalized! |

Yes.
Let the same laws that apply to drinking apply to recreational drug use, and keep it in their homes.
Stop funneling cash into black markets, keep drugs safer by regulations much like the pharmaceutical industry, and best of all, stop wasting taxpayer money on this ridiculous war on drugs. |

Yes, it causes less social harm than tobacco and alcohol, and causes less deaths than asprin (there's not a single case of overdose by marijuana...ever!) |

Yes, and regulated as alcohol is. |

Yes, its a victimless crime and could bring in money if the government allowed and taxed it. As we can see, it's going to happen regardless of the governments permission, so the smartest thing would be to heavily regulate and tax it. |

Yes. From my experiences, marijuana use is not as dangerous as alcohol use. A stoner is not as pathetic or as dangerous to society as an alcoholic. Legalizing recreational marijuana use will fix more problems than it will cause. |

If mj was legalized it would put a stop to the funding of the mexican drug cartels...marijuana is a very profitable drug...the most profitable in fact...when you mix that with the everygrowing multi billion dollar pot industry in the united states where its illegal then you get the terrible border problems we have in this country. Weed is far less harmful than alcohol or tobacco and its a joke that its still illegal...Skip the decriminalization and go straight for legalization..
If weed was only sold in liquor stores then the number of 15yr olds smoking it would decrease greatly as they wouldnt have a supplier anymore. obviously kids are still going to get alcohol but its atleast a preventative measure...can you imagine the problems we would have if alcohol was illegal..o wait we tried that and it turned out horrible for us...hence the lift on the prohibition ban.
Once enough Americans die from mexican drug cartels it will get legalized...the only problem is that the demacrats finally have control of Washington and they dont want to be labled as potheads by the media. |

Absolutely.
And the revenue stream it would create could possibly get us out of this dilemma we currently find ourselves in. |

I have mixed feelings on this, part of me says that they should just legalize it, it would open up more tax revenue, space in the jails/prisons and i have seen it be far less dangerous then alcohol and it has far less chemicals in it then cigarettes do. maybe if it was regulated the same way it is for medical use or alcohol then it might be a decent thing to legalize.
Another part of me thinks that there are the people, like my little brother, who would just sit around and do nothing. I know not everyone is like that but i know more people who don't have a job, don't care about anything, and move on to harder drugs because marijuana is no longer giving them the high they want.I only know a very small amount of people who smoke and are still functional.
My biggest question is: Are the same people wanting to legalize marijuana going to want to legalize cocaine because they have now need a stronger high? Cocaine also comes from "just a plant" |

In a perfect world, it wouldn't hurt.
But I don't think most Americans are ready for it. |

No. There is a good reason it is illegal. |

Certainly not. It's more dangerous that alcohol, and the only reasons that it appears to be safer is that fewer people are abusing it. If the abuse rates for pot and booze were the same you'd see that pot had the higher death/injury rate.
Here is one simple fact that swings the argument. When you take pot you feel that the effects have warn off long before they actually have. This means that you think your safe and normal when you are still high and your reaction times are impaired.
Pot can also make you insane. Studies in Britain showed that smoking pot can trigger latent mental illness, and can exasperate existing mental illness.
Another big reason is that pot cannot be regulated because it is easy to grow. At least it's difficult to distill booze, and it's easy to regulate home beer kits, but you cannot bring in the same level of regulation and enforcement on pot because a 10 year old could grow enough pot on their windowsill to get everybody they know high.
Pot also has a secondary danger. When you smoke it you get all of the danger of the pot, and all of the danger of a roll-up. |

Nope. The Workman's Compensation laws will not change and you will still be taking drug tests. Same as with alcohol, and it is legal. You cannot go to work under the influence of alcohol. |
