NO. I live in a County in CA that is KNOWN for the great growing of MJ. People just run to the doctors and GET their card to have it for medical use. Then, they sell the rest of the crop for a high price to non-medical users. I KNOW many people who laugh about having a medical O.K. card for MJ. There are many doctors who don't care if you have any problems/pain that would decrease with the use of MJ. They just take people's money and give a card. On the otherhand, if MJ was legal, my County would thrive with money. MJ is so easily grown here, it is pathetic. People who grow it, go to L.A., sell it for a LOT and come back home to having lots of non-taxable money (since it is secret money). If the 'weed' was legal, then, maybe the drug deaths would decrease................but, I've seen the users of MJ go so quickly to meth, cocaine, and onto heroin that I would never o.k. drugs. My son, at a clinic, leads a class for people who are ON drugs (usually heroin)......to help them know how to not spread diseases by using old needles or sharing needles. He teaches another class to people who are trying to get OFF drugs, and he has been successful enough to bring people from the ON drugs class into the "get off' drugs class. Drugs tear families apart, emotionally and physically. Drugs will get a person onto the streets to live a scary, horrible, dirty, starving life style. Drugs will give many HIV and HEP C.............if they get both, they are in real medical trouble! Things you are sure you would never do, are done while on drugs. You become dependant upon them, and they RULE your life. Are you a thief? You will be, soon, if you are on the streets. Are you a liar? You will be, soon. Ever been to jail? You will be lucky if you don't end up in prison. After prison, life can be really a turn around, from when you were a drug free person. |

Yes, it could be controlled, it would put drug dealers out of business and it produce unbelievable revenue for the government. |

There is so much misinformation AGAINST marijuana use and more and more scientific information is surfacing concerning the proper medical use of marijuana.
If its strictly regulated as a medical drug then it shoudl be used it helps out cancer and aids patients and other people in pain who lose soo much weight to live longer and feel better that other drugs dont do half as much or have side effects.
It really should be legalized and regulated(hello to the people who will attack me..read "REGULATED" just like any other medicine!) |

I'll give you my opinion on it. I think pot is a drug that alters your perception of reality. I don't see it as particularly dangerous especially when compared to other legal items such as alcohol. I think it should be regulated much like alcohol is today. It should be for persons over 18 unless required for medicinal purposes. It should be regulated such that persons wishing to consume the drug in private or in a "pot bar" or the like should be free to do so at their own discretion. However, if you drive stoned, you go to jail. You smoke around my kids, you get fined. You smoke on the job, you get fired. You get stoned at school -- suspension. That seems fair to me and would increase the taxes brought in, reduce the costs to the consumer and reduce the danger of smoking something that has been treated with unknown pesticides and other chemicals -- not to mention the lack of sanitary conditions. |

YES! Although I am not a user (now) and was never a heavy user of pot, the biggest danger has always been incarceration. |

Yes. Because it would put the illegal dealers out of business. |

Without a doubt. If not legalized then at least de-criminalized. I also think that the government should, um.......ahhh, I forget the question. Oh well i'm hungry, gonna go order a pizza. |

Yes
Tax money
Not a gateway drug
less harmful than alcohol
prisons too crowded because of stupid laws

Yes...because it's illegallity kills more people due to the whole "black market activity" than actually smoking it does. Hell, ALCOHOL kills more people that use it than pot does.
It's all thanks to the law enforcement lobby and the alcohol producers. Make pot legal and you'll have less crime over it...which means COPS MIGHT NEED TO BE LAID OFF. And the alcohol industry is just afraid it would cut into their sales...which is silly. |

Of course. It's not as bad as the other drugs out there. I used it when I was a teenager but not on a daily basis. I actually did my senior argument on the pro's & con's of marijuana. |

Yes, But only in Mary Jane bars. You have to smoke on premises. They are only allowed in certain cities and areas. |

no.. 'coz people have this inherent loss of self control (which can have really damaging effects)when they feel sumthing that is pleasurable.. so it rests upon the govt. to forcefully restrict people from using intoxicating substances(although if u ask me why the govt. is not banning tobacco or alcohol, i have no answer)
atleast by doing so, the govt. dissuades the casual tryer, who would try smoking pot just to try it out. |

I don't think it should be legalized, but it's not as bad for you as smoking tobacco, so if tobacco is legalized, it only makes sense to legalize marijuana, although in my personal opinion it should all be banned in public, and allowed in your own home. Second-hand smoking is as bad as when you do it yourself. |

No. While it may be true that overcrowded prisons are a problem, the solution is NOT to legalize pot or other drugs. We just need to build more prisons so we can keep the potheads locked up. |
