Definitely God put it on the earth. The Bible says that God provided for all of our needs in nature. Marijuana is probably his natural pain killer. Beer should be illegal if anything. It is man made and more drunk drivers kill people than those high on pot |

Pot should be illegal because doing drugs are wrong drugs mess people up. |

Mary Jane should be legal and alcohol and tobacco should be banned for the trouble they cause. But it will never happen, because it makes too much sense. |

we should have learned from prohibition its not possible to legislate moral choice.i like what mexico just did,i would add a caveate, you would have to register and carry an i d card to posess drugs, you couldn't have a drivers liscense, and you would have to declare your status on job applications.if you get caught in violation of one of these, throw away the key. |

Sure, its not addictive, no one has reportadly died from a pot overdose, if people are high they arnt likely to attack you, i reckon alcohol is worse, not that im saying it should be banned ;) |

Yes.
It is rather pointless to keep spending law enforcement dollars on prevention and elimination of marijuana use.
This is because those who wish to use it are going to continue no matter what. Additionally, by making it an illicit substance, the price goes up. This encourages criminals to sell it due to the high profit margin.
This results in an increase in violent crime, as well as the formation of gangs and cartels. This a very similar to prohibition, when organized crime made it's first huge appearance.
It seems marijuana use is no more hazardous than alcohol use, which is legal and produces huge tax revenues.
Who would you rather have driving on the road...a pot smoker or a drunk? |

While many people argue that pot should be legalized to save the government money (so that we don't waste money on drug enforcement and prisons) , the fact is that pot's effects on the brain cause a user not to be a functioning member of society. It would drain our workforce and create a strain on our economy in other ways (welfare, medical institutions, etc.) |

No, it's a bad drug. The immense misinformation on the drug makes it much more dangerous than a lot of other drugs. That is, so many people think it's harmless when it greatly affects your ability to concentrate and diminishes your ability to drive. It's also (when smoked) a very potent carcinogen. Finally, it's a huge gateway drug. What does the opposition say? Not everyone who smokes weed does coke... well 97% of people who do coke or heroin started smoking weed. Ok, it wasn't finally :) Finally, I'd guess 85% or more of the supporters of medical marijuana are ONLY, ABSOLUTELY ONLY in support of it because they see it as a step towards legalization for recreational use and as lessor legal penalties for posession, sale, etc.
To whoever said there are more drunk drivers wrecking cars, this is part of the misinformation in America, 45% of teenage wrecks resultings in death have had the driver test positive for canabanoids in the blood stream, that is the driver was HIGH, not smoked a day ago, or last week, or 8 hours ago... was high when he/she wrecked and killed himself, a passenger, or an innocent bystander |

Those who are opposed probly have not tried it. Yet they set back and do prescribed drugs that are man made and have side effects.Pot shows in your system longer Than alcohol or other drugs that man made but go in a bar and see who is starting crap;the one who smoked a joint or the drunk. There is more money in arresting than there is making it legal. If more people tried it and got off of prescriptions and government rules they would see the law tells us what we can have or do.You did not know orange juice was good till you tried it. |

Short answer, yes. Long answer, eh kind of. It's really contradictory to allow alcohol and tobacco to be legal without legalizing pot. However, I think that the regulations you would HAVE to impose would almost cancel out the fact that it was legal. For instance, pretty much any government employee couldn't smoke pot. Would you want your mail to be late or never arrive because your postman was high? And you would have to make it a company's prerogative to test for it (and possibly terminate employment for its presence) because they might view a user as unreliable or unproductive. So basically, only college kids would smoke it anyway, which are really the only people I know who smoke pot in the first place.
NOTE: I am not saying that ONLY college kids smoke pot. I'm not saying it makes a person unreliable or unproductive (well, it does for a little while ). I am just saying those are perspectives you would have to take into account. |

Yes. It's the same thing as prohibition. It's failed. It's created a black market many times bigger than the black markets that came as a result of prohibition. It's a black hole for federal funding of the war on drugs, has resulted in prison overcrowding by non-violent criminals, causing many violent criminals to be released early. If it were legalized, regulated and taxed to current street price, it could be a huge source of revenue instead of a huge cost to fight. |
