Do you think that a pregnant 17 year old should have an abortion?
Find answers to your legal question.

Do you think that a pregnant 17 year old should have an abortion?

Because, the baby is obviously ruining her life. Should she abort it so she can have her life back? Is that the responsible thing to do? What would you encourage her to do?

I'm just saying... if you would do such a thing, there goes your Messiah?!
How do you know that you're not convincing another young girl to murder the would-be best leader the world has ever seen?

only educate her on what might happen.

do not press, or take an opinion, rather discuss pro's and con's of either option with her.

calm voice, no hostility, or she will be more likely to have the child (if thats whata you show youdon't want her to do) >> unfortunately, it doesn't work the other way around.

civilised, and calm discussinos, informing her of what will happen in an unbiased view. then she is old enough to make her own, inform decisions once she fully understands the situation.

She will have to live with the decision she makes for the rest of her life. Encourage her to have it and put it up for adoption.

Lizzie Borden was innocent
Why are all you pinheads thinking her life is ruined? Did it ever occur that they may be in love, discussed the possibility of having the kid and decided to let love take them where it has.

my sister is in the same position at the moment .. but she is 19. she is having an abortion. personally i think she should give it up for adoption however we cannot pressure anyone into decisions. it is their decision and what she is comfortable with. its a really sad situation when these things happen

well first of all my sister was 16 when she got pregnant yes it is hard to take care of children but there not going to ruin your life but it would be hard because it interfeares with her school and other things and it would be her responsibility. but in my point of view she should do what she thinks is right because my sister had to drop out of school and that didnt help much she is now 20 and doesnt have a job yet or drive..im not saying she wount because my sister couldve but didnt.but she should do what she thinks is best...but it would be sad for her to have an abortion...because it would be killing a human being ..how bout giving it up for adoption?

sorry if this didnt help..

IA fetus is very much alive. abortion is not the best thing to do because she is killing a poor innocent baby because of a mistake she made. Adoption would be soooo much better because at least that poor child has a chance at a nice life.

Instead of abortion, she always has the option of giving this child up for adoption. There are so many families that yearn for a child, but for whatever reason, they're not able to conceive. What better gift could she give not only her child, but another family? Personally, I am pro-choice, but I do feel that if at all possible, a woman that doesn't want to keep her child, that child should be given to someone who really wants the baby. If she chose the adoption route, her life won't be ruined. Her life wouldn't be ruined if she kept her child. In my high school, it was not uncommon for 9th grade students to be parents. Most of them have at least 2 kids by the time they graduated. She needs to choose the option that is best for her.

If she is comfortable getting an abortion and it is truly going to ruin her life then yes she should have an abortion.
don't keep the baby because of pressure but don't get rid of it because of pressure either.

each situation is different,
good luck x

If you keep extending your logic, you would expect to see very many convictions for statutory rape for anyone involved in the pregnancy of anyone before their 16th birthday.

No, At 17 abortion would not be an option. The child deserves a chance at life.

Once a decision to have an abortion has been made, and then done, there is no going back.

I think she, her parents and the father to be need to sit down and have a long discussion of goals, ethics and reality and make their own decision without anyone else interefering.

Are you suggesting mandatory abortions for minors?

her body, her choice. I am not god and i will not condemn her for her decision. if you want to bring religion in to the mix then this issue is between the woman and god.

.
No,I don't think she should have an abortion.

If the child was a mistake..what is it with you libs and never taking responsibility for your actions?

Villhelm
Or she could be murdering a future serial killer, ever think of it that way?

That question is to be answered by the pregnant person and her family and any decision they make will be accepted by me. I recommend that tack by everyone.

AS A CANADIAN CITIZEN: I agree with the law that grants her the FREEDOM to make whatever choice she wishes, because I understand it isn't MY choice or MY business, it's solely HERS.

Don't bring a baby into the world if you can't take care of it.

Triple Helix
God ordered all the firstborn of Egypt killed, and they were carried to term. 75% of fertilized eggs are flushed out during a woman's period. Clearly god has no problem with abortion.

A 17 year old, while not an adult, still has authority over her own body.

I would rather my 17 year old daughter had an abortion than ruin both her life, the father's life, as well as the life of the child, by carrying it to term when none of them were ready.
