I think that they should get suspened....and if it keeps happening to be expelled. Harrasing and Bullying can get very serious. There was a student that did suicide once. It is also hard for the students to pay attention in class. Most students have their grades drop when this is happening to them. |

Those of us older than 35 probably remember corporal punishment in the schools. (Some of us remember it more than others!)
THAT'S the way they should handle bullies. |

absolutely and on the first offense too. |
|

?

And if that doesn't work, there's the cat o' nine and bronze knuckles in the alley behind the school. |

suspended and if it continues...expelled |

Absolutely! I think they should have to go through some kind of sensitivity training, and their parents as well, before they are aloud back in a school setting. |
|

?

yes I do. However, I do think that there should be a three strike rule put into place in schools because, that is the way it is in real life. |

Yes I do. I thought they were already.
I graduated in 85 and several people were suspended for bullying and harassing. I think every school system is different. |

Very much so, and suspension on the first offense is the best way to start. Increase the length of suspension for each subsequent offence. Expel after three offences, or if there was significant physical injury even on the first offence. |

Yes depending on the severity of the bullying/ harassing and the length of the suspension. I only think they shoudl be expelled if its a perpetual offense occuring over and over that is making it hard for other students to come to school on a regular basis. Once someone is interfering with the educatoin of another student, I think their rights to be going to the school should be taken away. ( for the protection of the general student population) |

yes absolutely . There is no excuse to behave like that |
|

?
 |
no !!they should be put in prison for life !!!!!!!!!! |
|

Guess Who?

yes. |

Yep and start teaching them at a young age. When I was in grade school I used to think it was fun to beat up on bullies and embarrass them in front of their friends and classmates since the school would not do anything about it. |

I agree with everyone else - they should definitely be suspended. The thing I find interesting is that people talk about how adults don't "bully" each other (at least not in the extreme ways done in school) and attribute that to "growing up." When in fact it isn't.
Some adults still haven't "grown up," but they don't bully others because they know they'd get into deep trouble. Such as lawsuits, fines, wouldn't be allowed to come into so many feet of the victim, etc...
Children need a same punishment system for bullying as adults have. I'm not saying they should go to jail or be sewed - but definitely suspended for the first offense and possibly expelled from the school for the second.
I, and many others, spend so much time in school worrying about bullies when we could have been spending all of that time studying. I remember when it got so bad that I couldn't even think about school (so I couldn't study) - because I would instantly get depressed over thinking of the bullies I had to encounter. |

Yes. Without such immediate and serious repercussion, the school risks sending a signal of apathy or acceptance. Then the problem can rapidly escalate. Bullying and harassing behavior is absolutely becoming a grave social issue in the US and since many parents do not take responsibility for raising their children properly, then the school must take appropriate action. |

Very good question. I dont think they should be expelled...but definatly suspended. Where I go to school, if you get into a fight on the campus then you get arrested AND suspended. Getting suspended is MUCH better then getting arrested and having a record. DRAMA sure is a ***** but karmas 2x worse. |

Nope -get'em ready for the real world.....no repercussions, though - for the weak striking back. Bullies quickly learn that there is always someone bigger, stronger, smarter - suspensions only reinforce their illusion of supremacy...while an older brother or bigger friend of yours sends a more realistic message. Bullies understand one thing - might.
Or you could turn the other cheek. |

i agree people who bully other studnets should get suspended im still in school at this point only in grade eight and i know many people who get bullied and no one can stop it they try but they just cant. i aslo know many people who bully other students for the fun of it or because of there life style. like serously. the girl you just called fat she is now starving herself and has lost over 30 pounds. the boy you just called stupid has a learning disabilty and spend hours studying the girl you just called ugly spends hours putting makeup on to try and get people to notice her the boy you just tripped is abused enough at home. it's time we do somthing about bullying. it hurts me when people go home crying cause they were just bullied. here is a song i want you all to listen to and watch the video kay i cant get the link but it's called concrete angel by martina mcbride and this actually happened to her neice. |
