In the UK we are told that everyone has freedom of speech. But this is only the case if you are in a minority and preach hate crimes toward white christian people, vice versa and you are hauled up in court as a racist bigot who incites racial hatred.
Freedom of speech, Not in this country, Not at this time. Multiculturalism made sure we must hold our tongues. |

Not even close . For instance cursing in public is an arrestable offense as is the "N" word which is a legitimate word in the dictionary although most people hardly ever used it correctly because most Americans are illiterate .
Also, the capitalistic exploitation of information regarding health
and welfare I believe is a violation of the 1st amendment and the individual .And meanwhile advertisers and others are allowed to lie to the public as much as they like .How do people feel when they are tricked into giving money over the Internet because they didn't feel like spending the rest of their lives reading the fine print
(conditions of agreement)only to find a billing later on when they check their bank account overview, and they believed it when the service claimed to be for free several times? |

Rights can't be given as gift, but stolen with force. Today we don't have freedom of speech, in fact we will never have this kind of freedom on radio or tv. But it can be achieved easily on the world wide web (www), where there's true freedom. |

You mean in Singapore? No I don't think so...
At the sacrifice of democracy and freedom of speech, Singapore has achieved rapid growth and keeps the unity of the country. It depends on you if you choose either the freedom or the life. |

For the most part, we do. You can post almost anything you want on your own website. You just can't threaten the president. |

I used to think so, but I am becoming increasingly concerned. I believe in the old phrase "I can't agree with your opinions, but I'll defend to the death your right to voice them".
It seems to me that we are getting bound up in a whole mess of 'political correctness' ("That's offensive - you can't say that") and government restriction.
A case in point is the reaction to the BNP trial. Now, I am completely and utterly ANTI- the BNP, but if they choose to hold those views, that's up to them. I will seek to show them up as the nasty little racists that they are by the force of my arguments.
But when they're acquitted there's an immediate call for stronger laws so that they would be convicted in the future.
What does that do? Gives them a platform to stand on and stifles free speech.
No, providing you don't deliberately incite people to go out and commit crime free speech is a cherished part of our democratic system which needs to be preserved. |

Our freedom of speech has always been somewhat curtailed. This I didn't realize until Connie Chung Interviews Newt Gingwichs mother and she got the woman to say that Newt thought Hilary Clienton was a B****! Right after that Connie yanked from television.
It wasn't a life interview. So it could have been pulled or that portion could have been cut so it got approval from her bosses.
It's just much worse now then every. Don't get mad and say I would like to blow this place up cause that will get you in the slammer! |

Yes we do as long as we use common sense about it.. common sense goes a long way... you can go protest the war in Iraq peacefully but you can't go protest and say "Death to Bush"... come on people common sense goes a long way |
