I am 23 live in Montreal ( Quebec )
I was charged with a DUI after I took prescription meds... Rivotril ( for anxiety )
And I crashed my car into an embarkment. I was alone in the car
And when I got home, I backed up into my parking.. Hit my neighbours parked car and came up to my apartment and police showed up and I opened the door to my apartment and passed out and woke up in the hospital.
And the police said I rear ended 5 cars while driving.. and I have no recollection of anything
So all my charges are
Driving under the influence ( NO ALCOHOL )
Reckless driving
And Leaving the scene of an accident
And noone was injured or anything
This is my first time and I have never been in any legal trouble before.
My next court date is June 30th. What kind of trouble am I in

If the DUI doesn't get you a lengthy suspension the Leaving the scene of an accident will. Taken together you are probably going to be sans-license for a while. |

Yes at the very least it's a one year driving ban. Your in a lot of trouble here, thats for sure. Driving Under The Influence, you'll recieve a $1000 fine (manadtory), at least a 1 year driving ban but the judge could suspend your license for 3 years. Reckless driving, carries up to 10 years in prision, but the judge will defintely give you suspend your license again for at least one year. Leaving the scene of an accident carries a maximum of 5 years in prison if tried as indictable or a max of 6 months in jail/$2000 fine if tried as summary offence. At the very least you'll get $1000 fine, 2 year driving licenese ban (but judge at most could give you 12 year driving ban), you'll have to take a back on track course to get your license reinstated, and you'll probably be given a conditional jail sentence (house arrest). |
