If you want to gamble at 18, come to Minnesota. Otherwise, wait until you are 21 just like every other New Jersey resident. |

Those are all the same arguments people use about drinking, and that age is 21 as well.
If most people thought the age should be lowered, then it almost certainly would be.
It's not morally wrong to gamble under age, but society doesn't think it's a good idea. |

Trust me while three years doesn't seem much the maturity between an 18 year old and a 21 year is is a lot
Plus 18 year olds are still living at home usually and aren't aware of how to balance a budget or live in their means
I actually think it should be older but you won't here any politician try to pass that |

I know most younger people will disagree with me, but, as I get older, I begin to realize how little I knew when I was younger. lol
If anything, I think that the age should be higher. Younger people tend to have less self control and are far more likely to risk more than they can afford to lose. Far more often than not you will lose. Obviously the casinos have to make their millions somehow.
I actually am not against gambling if it is done in a controlled careful way. I actually gamble with my children by playing penny bet games, but that really doesn't add up to much, and if they have a really bad day I can always slide their losses back to them. Casinos don't care if you lose your rent money. They won't be kind enough to give it back. |

You report the gambling age should be 18. O.K. I do not think gambling is wrong at any age. I am going to guess that you are 18 years old. What about 16 years of age, given the variable maturity of teenagers. |

The age to gamble in the US is 18. You can play the lotto and go into certain casinos that are set up for minors. The only "glitch" is you can't go into most casinos because they serve alcohol on the floor so it's required to be a 21+ establishment. |

The idea is that gambling is an addictive behavior that can lead to self-destructive actions, so they try to regulate it as they do alcohol.
They want to try to make sure that you are of a "responsible age" and that you are not going to go out and gamble yourself into debt.
That being said, no, I don't think the age should be 21. |

Gambling at any age is foolish. Because gambling can become a life destroying addiction, I agree with age constraints. If you are really happy and chill and wise and forward thinking, you'd have fun in less destructive or risky ways. Get into martial arts, or sculpture, or start something. The thrill over the money games is cheap and bitter. |

When I was 18 in 2000 you could gamble at 18. I think the reason they changed it was because of the Alcohol in casinos and since it applied to that it applied to all forms of gambling. Personally I think 18 year olds should be able to gamble and those laws are just stupid. But then again if more 18 year olds voted it may not have happened =( |

Because there are to many 18-21 year olds still living with mommy and daddy.
I see no reason to lower the requirements. |

its not its just to stop some addicts to gambling and they might lose all their money and be in debt they think that a 21 year old wont get addicted and not cause a uproar on this law is what i think |

If you think gambling laws are wrong, you should think smoking and drinking laws are wrong also. There is addictions associated with gambling just as there are smoking and drinking.
I personally think that they should be legal at the age of 18, especially drinking. Sure drinking impairs you much more than smoking does, but whether or not you're eighteen or twenty-one is not gonna make a difference if you drive while drunk. Anyway, gambling hurts no one but the person that does it. If you are eighteen and still live at home, then your parents have control over you anyway. |

its the man bringing us down!! XD yea some laws are B.S. like paying for adult food prices at restaurants and theaters at age 12 but not being able to do half the stuff they can. Driving restrictions apply to younger people but not elders who actually have a higher crash rate. Its just a way to regulate things you cant think strait when you are drunk so if u can gamble and drink casino keeps funds we cant have a sober person win money. So on so forth thier really is nothing that can be done but go with the flow or fake ID but i woudnt advise that... |

I agree with you 100%. 21 is an absurd age to have as the legal gambling age. Where I live it's 18. I also couldn't agree with you more when you said "if an 18 yr old can fight for their country, then why can't they gamble?" The same goes for drinking, to me. I think that these laws are placed to protect minors, but having 21 being the legal age to be able to gamble at is insane. It should be 18 like most places are. |

I think at age 18 or 16 if emancipated should be the legal age for many reasons such as freedom in general to to whatsoever you please. |

I don't. Is there really any huge difference between gambling at 18 and gambling at 21? Why should we care? You think three years is gonna change anyone's outlook on life? |

Life's a WIATCH.

Why is it such a big deal if someone underage gambles? Let them spend their money the way they want. |
