Does anyone know how to go about regaining custody or communication with there child?

I have talked to a few lawyers out here but its all the same and a lot of money needs to be spent. I work a pt job and babysit a little on the side. My daughter lives with her her Grandparents my Adopted Mother and Father who have cut me out of my daughters life I have not seen her since June 18 06.
I miss my baby so much there has to be something I can do and soon

Im sorry I forgot to mention im in Las vegas and she is in Pa. that is why I wanted to get my daughter back in my life. I have sent cards they are refused gifts refused letters also refused. Im supposed to have communication with my child they are in contempt of court. What can I do

If your parental rights have been terminated, there's nothing you can do.

If not, you can file for a visitation order at the county courthouse in the child's county of residence. You don't need a lawyer. The clerks will talk you though the paperwork to file, if necessary.

Family courts do tend to favor a child maintaining a relationship with the biological parents. However, if there's past abuse or neglect, you may have an uphill battle on your hands, which will definitely benefit from the assistance of an attorney. Especially if your parents have one.

Part of it would depend on why she is living with them. And also how stable you are now. Usually a judge would have to have a really good reason to keep a child away from its mother. You can go to your local court and file for visitation rights. You do not need a lawyer to do this. You can just do a lot of research and have all your facts straight and prove to the judge why you should have visitation of your daughter. If you receive visitation rights just do that for a while and also keep your visits and follow the rules of visitation then you can file for custody. Even if the visitations are supervised. Take it in steps. I know it seems overwhelming but take it from experience...prove to your daughter you are willing to fight for her. How old is she? If you fight when she gets to be a certain age she will want to be with you anyway. But you have to let her know you aren't going to just give up. And sometimes you can find attornies that will do pro bono (for free) work. Call social services and ask them for their recommendations. But you have to make sure you are a fit mother. There are women who have been to prison for murder who still have custody of their children. Good luck!!

You would definitely have to fight for her in PA if they have met the state's residency requirements which is typically 6 months. Which it makes it more difficult when you live on the other side of the country. I would call social services in the city or county they live in and ask for their help. Tell them they are going against a court order.
