Does anyone know whether the McCann's will be interviewed about their Child neglect when they return to UK??

I doubt it even though they should. I don't think that they were involved in Maddie's abduction but this would have been avoided if they didn't leave her unattended. They have so much publicity but they shouldn't they neglected their children. At the moment they are more interested in fund raising and publicity than looking for Maddie. If that was me I would hunt to the ends of the earth to find my daughter and if I had left her alone (which I certainly wouldn't) I would be too embarrassed to show my face. Sadly though I think Maddie is no longer with us.

If they were so desperate for a night out why didn't they just use the babysitting service which they could have obviously afford?

This all happened in Portugal and as the UK police have no jurisdiction over there it is very unlikely.Remember the McCanns employed a team of London lawyers within 48 hrs for no apparent reason.The address of the lawyers is 1 Hare court London,they have several QCs one of whom won the prestigious Family Silk award that is bestowed every year on top QCs they also specialise in laws relating to children.
They may however be interviewed by Leisestershire social services but that is a matter of speculation.
If the Portugeuses wish to charge them they will do so in time

I really get bad vibes from all this. The parents left their children and went for a meal. If they had lived on a run down council estate , they would have been crucified by the press. Madeleine's parents are made to look like heroes, for being SO BRAVE.
I have a strong feeling this may even be a scam. Who is this business man who lends them his plane, this all looks too slick. Could it be someone similar to Max Clifford. Who has already signed them up for when the little girl is found.
I know I sound very cruel, but if these intelligent people put as much effort into looking after their children as they do keeping their publicity machine going, this wouldn't have happened. Ask 10 people and they would probably say the same thing. The children shouldn't have been left.
And as for the father saying that you never expect this to happen. He didn't show much remorse, and justified why they were left. Most normal people do worry about this type of thing, That's why people have baby sitters. It could have been worse, all three could have been taken or even died in a fire.
I am probably completely wrong, and please God the little girl is found, but the parents make me sick!

You are so stereotypicle. Why do you assume that people are jealous of what they have. The point is they were educated intelligent people who should have known better. Most people wherever they live wouldn't dream of leaving three SMALL children alone. Wherever they are going to a friends house or for a meal. Why do you assume that anyone who has made a negative comment is jealous of the family. Do YOU have any children?, and if so , do you think its ok to leave THEM when they were or are toddlers.
And as for lynching, the neighbour and the computer repair man were the ones lynched. Their lives have been ruined and they haven't a shred of evidence against them.

I would have had them arrested straight away for neglect. If they had been in England and they had left their children in the house asleep while they went to the pub in the same street, which is exactly the same thing, and someone reported them to child welfare, then the children would have been put on the "at risk " register. It is wrong. It is illegal to leave a child of younger than 14 at home alone in this country. But they were in Spain, and the laws might be different. Also the police etc wouldn't do it because Maddie went missing and they would not feel they were being fare. I hope these two intelligent doctors know that it is their faults that she went missing and that they know that they could have prevented it by looking after their children properly. I really hope that Maddie gets found soon, and that this will be a lesson to people who have this habit of leaving young children alone and thinking it is ok to do so. It is not ok, it is dangerous. Those children could have choked on something, or set the apartment on fire playing with a cooker or electric appliances, or they could have fallen and hurt themselves. It was never jsut a risk of abduction, it is a whole big issue that people who are intelligent and middle class should know about. Sorry, I get really angry thinking about these thickos. To think, normal people trust Doctors to give us advise on our children's health.

They probably wont return to Britain.- well maybe just on a whirlwind tour to help promote a gig or two or to appear on Richard & Judy...no doubt our new King Ebeneezer Brooon cant wait for the PR oppertunity.. & Portugal is out because they will get done there.. they have probably eyed up a nice wee Villa just outside Rome. within a Kates Jog away- . to be near the Pope.. so they can be "forgiven" everyday.

so far no one has pondered whether this was a coincidence that the abductor happened upon this apartment at just the right time .........or whether he/she had been watching and that this leaving the kids to go out for a meal may have been a regular thing which the abductor had picked up on and meant they would have had an idea of the best time to strike

also did anyone else feel that the parents did not seem as overjoyed as one might have expected at the possible sightings late last week. all we got was a terse comment about they would continue with their plans to release their balloons to mark 50 days missing. almost like they were annoyed by the thought that this might in some way detract some limelight from their publicity machine. every day more things happen to make me feel more and more uneasy about this whole thing

The police in most cases can only deal with offences committed within their juristiction so this has nothing to do with the UK police.

that's what i mean quite a few questions on here saying how they feel sorry that they have lost a child BUT people do forget that they did leave children on their own as loads of people have said if it was a single mum from a council estate they more then likely to be lock up by now, but then they have to live with the guilt for the rest of their lives that they did leave her alone!!!

as a mother of two young children (who i would never dream of leaving alone anywhere, never mind a hotel room) i believe very strongly that they should be charged with neglect, if that was a normal working class family or a single parent you wouldn't need to ask this question as they would have already been charged, it proves once again that there is one rule for the rich and another for the poor!!!!!

Hmm, I've said this since the whole thing happened.
It's horrible what's happened to the family, I'm not for one moment saying they deserved it, but why leave 3 children (or even toddlers!) alone for ANY amount of time?
I'm almost 5 months pregnant and I wouldn't dream of leaving my child alone like that. Leaving them in a room when you're in the room next door, maybe. But going the other side of a holiday complex to have dinner? It just seems a bit funny to me.

But to answer your question, no. Nothing will be said. A) It happened outside of the UK so the UK police can't really do anything as far as I know and B) No-one will say anything out of compassion.

ever since the Mcanns appeared on our screens i have thought there was something not quite right about the whole situation, i agree who would leave 3small children on their own and they seem to be making a carear for themselvesout of this. poor Maddie, such a beautiful little girl, i do hope she is safe although i doubt it after this lengh of time i also think it wasn't the first time, an opportunist never.

I totally agree with Bugaboo, if the same situation happened with a single parent or parents from a minority, I reckon they'd have been forcibly brought back to the UK by now. But hey, they're educated, religious people, they can do no wrong, right?

Edit: To Biff, (comments about 8 posts down), I live on a Council Estate and have NEVER EVER left my kids alone for a bloody second. It's ok for you to stereotype the answerers who don't agree with you, is it? The fact is, unless the holiday complex was surrounded by armed guards, they SHOULD NOT HAVE LEFT THE KIDS UNATTENDED. No one has said anything about "stringing" the McCanns up or any such nonsense, no one is stupid or heartless enough to forget about poor Maddie, and we all hope that she will be found safe and sound asap. However, it's the hypocrisy of the whole situation that is unpalatable to me, irrespective of what anyone says, by leaving those children on their own, the McCanns put them at risk. Of course the "abductor" is the guilty party in this, but if the opportunity had not been there, he or she could not have taken Maddie. That's it.

From the sounds of the comments that have been listed so far, I am yet to see a responsible, clear, well thought out comment.(With the exception of Geronimo) People who claim that because they are said to be middle class that they should be strung , (sounds somewhat like jealousy to me) A resort like this is a safe heaven, (or is meant to be) and the fact that they were having dinner has nothing to do with it. All of you who live on a council estate are more likely to have gone to a neighbour whilst your kids are asleep, and not even check on them as they did.
These people have lost their child, which is devastating enough without having these kinds of comments expressed by people who seem to want to string them up just because they are jealous of what they have.

child neglect..the holiday apartments are considered to be a safe area, its the abducter/s you should be whingeing about and not the McCann's. If public hanging ever comes back would you be the 1st to take up knitting while you watch.
