Ok, well long story short she was the love of my life. We went out for 2 and a half years. Well heres where it gets interesting. She calls me one night and tells me she is getting back with her ex of awhile back. So then I hang up on her. We get into a huge fight and both say some really horrible things to each other. However I never threatened her. But she is claiming I am. And her mother (shes 18 by the way) believes her daughters life is in danger because of the stupid things I said to her out of anger.
So basicly I am a bit worried here because I dont really remember what I said on those txt messages. And taken out of context I said some pretty bad things.
So does she really have any legal case against me?

AS LONG AS YOU KEEP YOUR DISTANCE...
they have very little against you, even if you threatened her. The most they can do is have a police officer investigate, ask you some questions, and leave it at that.
Just make sure you do not talk to her for anything...if you want to try ONCE to apologize for it, then do so. But if you are then harassing them, or "stalking", then that just adds to the evidence.
but no, the most they can do is (police) investigate the whole issue, and if you don't seem to pose a threat, then they will just tell her that if you continue to give them trouble, give them a call.
They can take you to court, they can take anyone to court for anything, but do they have a case? Hell no!
By the way, police officers know when a person breaks up, usually they do these kind of things, which is make up any reason to get their ex in trouble. They'll know you two recently broke up and she will be hostile. She will be dramatic, and "embellish" on how scared she is.

she doesn't, but she could notify the police. Then it would be up to them if they wish to pursue in charging you with assault or what not, but usually if there is no evidence and only hearsay-- they arent going to do anything. She may get a restraining order or an order of protection if she really feels threatened. |

So which was it--verbal or text messages? If there are text messages, that’s evidence, although rather or not it'll be admissible in court is a different matter. I suggest you try real hard to remember what you said. And then I suggest you learn to control what you say when you’re angry. |
