I don't know if you are insinuating that a leg wound can't kill. If you are, you are mistaken. Severing the femoral artery can cause a person to bleed out very rapidly. |

definition of attempted murder is when you maliciously try to kill someone---shooting someone in the leg to disable that person is not attempted murder but it is aggravated assault with a deadly weapon--and a class-A felony. |

I guess it depends on whether you meant to shoot them in the leg or if you were trying to kill them and had it planned out? At any rate, it would definitely be assault with a deadly weapon. |

The fact is shooting, stabbing and using any other types of weapon is attempted murder unless there are clear signs of self defence.
Even if you shot at someone its still classed as attempted murder. |
