Why not. I bet you drive your car and smell the exhaust from it. Get a grip, I bet you don't smoke but I bet you drink and drive. |

Smokers have paid taxes for parks like everyone else.
Restraunts and bars are not public areas, they are privately owned. So the owner should have the right to determine whether they should allow smoking or not due to private property rights |

They always have. Did it kill more people in the 40's.... No. Get a life. You drive your 4X4's & cough in the street if you see somebody with a cigarette.
You "reformed smokers" crack me up. You're a lot like "born again christians."
What, do you think you'll live longer than me? |

I am a smoker. I believe that tobacco should be illegal due to the number of deaths it causes. The tobacco companies are placing more and more nicotine in cigarettes to keep us hooked, and I have tried everything to stop.
Red die #5 (used to be used in cherries) was proven to cause cancer and was outlawed. What they did not publicize is that you had to drink gallons of it everyday for years to get cancer. Why not outlaw cigarettes?
MONEY is the answer. The government cares more about revenue than it does about Americans' health. |

To be honest, I don't think smoking in well ventilated outdoor areas present any more danger for others than many other things. They will eventually make painting illegal since the fumes can be dangerous. |

I totally agree with yourbabygirl......Those who whine about smokers will drive huge cars leaving plenty of pollution and smoke....ironic !
There should be areas for smokers like there are parking spaces for cars.
Those who don't like it can enjoy a smoke-free area and live the smokers alone.
People used to be able to smoke on planes and it did not disturb anybody.....now the airplanes are cutting back and instead of installing good and effective retractors , just prefer to say "no smoking"..(that from somebody who works in the industry..not me)
As far as I remember.....people speak about holes in the ozone layer created by industries and car pollution....not smokers !
People whine so much but will not think like the other poster about paint, car exhausts, all the cleaning products which can be harmful...... |

This is suppose to be a free country, so smokers should be able to smoke in public areas. |

I'm a smoker, and I don't mind the ban. I mean, non smokers shouldn't have to inhale it all. It's my habit, I can wait to have a puffer. In fact, I applaud the ban, for the sake of the baby in the next booth over. Other people's smoke bothers me, too, if it gets all up in my face and stuff, ya know? We should keep it to ourselves.
There IS no reason why we should be allowed to smoke in public. |

well i don't smoke and i have a baby so i greatly appreciate when people around don't smoke and i think it's great that many public places now don't allow smoking or places like restaurants have special separate areas for that. but i also think that there still should be places where smoker can go. like smoking bars and non-smoking bars, stuff like that cause see they're people too, they know all the risks, they make their choices and they have their rights as long as they don't interfere in the rights of others (being able to breathe healthy air for example) |

NO! I think that no smoking in public areas (stores, eating places, etc) is a great idea. I don't smoke and I hate it when I have to suffocate from cigarette smoke from others who are smoking! |

hey i don't smoke at all but if i did i'd smoke wherever i wanted to because this is supposed to be a free country and what the **** if you don't want cancer then don't hang out where people smoke..and if you want to open a business where there will be no smoking hey more power to ya...till then i'll say no to smoking after all i 'm part of the smoke free class of 2000........except for pot does that count for smoking? |

Do you mean like outside public areas or inside public areas? I am a smoker and I think smokers should be able to smoke outside in public areas because it's outside and this is a free country. I live in NYS and there is no smoking in ANY establishment throughout the state and I didn't like it at first, but now it's great. You don't come home from a bar smelling like a pile of smoke. It is so much nicer and I don't mind going outside to smoke! |

First ; WE THE PEOPLE - live in a democracy where freedom reigns! What is the big hoorah? The government makes $$$$ in tabacco taxes. I am a smoker and to some degree I understand the smoking in restaurants due to children and expecting mothers but in bars??? come on it is all adults who are there to get their drink on and what is a drink without a cig. BORING!
SECOND: We The People - are going to lose our freedom, our rights, and our democracy status the ban on smoking started in a small area and now it is nation wide and beyond ( Castro banned cigar smoking in public areas) go figure! The ignorant are all proud of the ban success which is leading to what is now-pro-life vs pro-choice-
In South Dakota the Governor banned abortions and any doctor caught performing one will automatically serve 5 years in prison. now wait-the law there stipulates that a woman can ONLY have an abortion if it is life threatening to her. If she becomes pregnant by rape or incest then she must carry the baby to term!!!!!!
WE woman are still considered second class citizens what the hell will we become if we are stripped of our rights!!!!! TO CHOOSE. WAKE UP PEOPLE we the people are fading
1st smoking now our bodies.
we live in AMERICA we are free to choose what is best for us!!! "-look beyond the smoke sreen-" |

From my point of view, smoking should be forbidden in public places. However, smokers should be full aware that they had better not smoke even if smoking is not permitted in public areas, for that shows your ethical standards which matter much to your individual image in public. |

Smokers have it rough now days. I smoke, unfortunately. I think there are a lot of people that smoke. I guess it is not fair to smoke around those who do not smoke, but those of us that do smoke should be allowed an area to smoke in, (in resturants, etc.) It would even be nice if a resturant chain opened for smokers only. I mean, the tobacco companies are making a fortune from addicted smokers, they could at least give us somewhere to go and kill ourselves with a little enjoyment~ |
