No, but the first numbers represent your state...
Area numbers - The first three numbers originally represented the state in which a person first applied for a Social Security card. Numbers started in the northeast and moved westward. This meant that people on the east coast had the lowest numbers and those on the west coast had the highest. Since 1972, the SSA has assigned numbers and issued cards based on the ZIP code in the mailing address provided on the original application form. Since the applicant's mailing address doesn't have to be the same as his residence, his area number doesn't necessarily represent the state in which he resides. For many of us who received our SSNs as infants, the area number indicates the state we were born in. You can find out which area numbers go with each state at SSA.gov: Social Security Number Allocations.
Group numbers - These two middle digits, which range from 01 through 99, are simply used to break all the SSNs with the same area number into smaller blocks, which makes administration easier. (The SSA says that, for administrative reasons, group numbers issued first consist of the odd numbers from 01 through 09, and then even numbers from 10 through 98, within each area number assigned to a state. After all the numbers in group 98 of a specific area have been issued, the even groups 02 through 08 are used, followed by odd groups 11 through 99.)
Serial numbers - Within each group designation, serial numbers -- the last four digits in an SSN -- run consecutively from 0001 through 9999. |

No. Your age changes every year. |

There is no way to tell a specific age based upon a social security number. The only thing I know how to translate the first 3 digits tell which state you were born in. That's all I know for sure about SS#'s.
**edit** Annie, you are a moron. The United States is the only country that uses Social Security numbers to administer social benefits upon US citizens. The "other" countries you are referring to use them as Social Identification numbers, as Canada has a completely different set of healthcare policies than we do. Talk about teenage morons, better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. |

Actually it does... Although coded, A ss number contains what state you were born, what county you were born in and the year you were born in. It's all coded but YES it does have all that info.. I know this by working for a utility company that uses a person's ss id for age verification.
Do I know the coding? no... but it is all contained in those numbers. |

I would imagine that for most of us, the 2 middle numbers will at one point, be the same as your age.
Edit: Nearly everyone here says the first 3 numbers represent the state you were born in. I say no bc my brother's and my socials are identical except for the last 2 numbers and we were born in different states (military dad). My mom, however, applied for our socials at the same time.
Come to think of it, that would also contradict the "age verification" thing. |

No; it never changes. |
|

chris s
 |
no because then your ssn would constantly be changing if yours has your current age it is just random |
|

PattyAnn
|
That would be impossible since most people get them at birth. No, there is no age in a social security number. Just a state.
EDIT: The state of application. Yes, it's there. I worked for Social Security doing listings state by state. |
