Its a double standard that is bad law. It doesn't make sense that a soldier is fighting for our freedoms and can't enjoy all of them. I think its also a double standard that allows 18 year olds to vote, but not drink...WTF?
To me its making second class citizens out of age groups 18-21. Sounds like a good discrimination law suit in federal courts...to me. |

i say 18 should be the legal age for everything |

The drinking age should not be lowered, 18 year olds are still in high school and are in the same enviornment as much younger youth. Thereby making it much easier for 14-17 year olds to drink which is way too young. You can by choice defend your country because as of right now there is no draft. Also there are changes that happen in the human body that make drinking after 21 not as a problem. |

Good point. But I live by my own laws, it's not illegal unless they catch you.. Happy drinking! |

I totally get what your saying. I know my dad when he was my age used to go to New Jersey cuz the drinking age used to be 18 there.
Who knows.. maybe lowering the age can help with the economy.. ha idk |

It is stupid. And it'd be nice to be able to drink openly and buy your own stuff.
But at the same time, there are stupid kids out there that would cause a lot of trouble and probably just push the age limit back up again.
So as long as you can get stuff, enjoy it. At least the law doesn't stop the alcohol from getting you drunk! |

Why do people continually ask this question. Who cares if you're "old enough" or not. Just get someone who is old enough to pick up your booze for you. |

40% of the alcohol sold in California is consumed by minors. would it really matter?? |

There is no American law that will stop them |

This question has been hacked to death and it gets recycled seemingly every 2 months.
There should not be a drinking age. Beer, Wine, and Whiskey are all forms of food. People should be taught how to consume food wisely. These three foods should always be consumed in a social situation with family members of different ages.
Punishment for public drunkenness should be serious --- lost of driving privileges until 25. 2nd offense, loss of all federal and state loan entitlements. |

No; Because you can get a job @ 14.. Do you think we should be able to shift it to 14?
The army is all about commitment and.. They cannot leave and die in war, until they've been trained. Im pretty sure, that they wouldn't be trained in the same year as when they joined the army. |

It should be lowered. If you are "smart" enough to vote you should be "smart" enough to drink responsibly, but most likely you are neither. I feel your an adult at a certain point in life and when your an adult you should be able to make adult decisions. Its hard to say when most kids become adults, but there only should be one line. |

Well it would be better, if their were no drinking age then alcohol problems wuld not be an issue, look at other countries where this is so. They dnt have any issues with alcoholism or anything else, but here it wuldnt wrk right away, if it were changed alot of stupid ppl wuld go crazy binge drinking and they wuld all end up killing ppl, but eventually it wuld settle down nd it wuld be normal again. But people only have a desire to do things their not alowed to do (usually) if they had no laws about drinking it wuldnt be cool or rebellious nd no one wuld care so much to do it. Your welcome. |

The primary reason why I think the drinking age should remain 21 is that 21 year-olds are much less likely to associate with minors than someone who is 18. I don't have an issue with someone who is 18 being served on a military base, and I wouldn't be opposed to them being served beer or wine at a restaurant with a meal. But I would be dead set against them being able to purchase booze at a store. |

Yes. Yes, 18.
The problem in the US is we are a car-loving nation. Teens are notoriously irresponsible, and hence the drinking ages were raised to 21.
How about drinking age 18 if you have a military ID? |

i think drinking age should be lowered to 18 for things such as hard liquor. 16 for beer. |
