Drunk Driving, don't listen to what you hear?

I know many people think they know everything to tighten the laws against drunk driving. Why is it that once you are convicted it is so hard to find work? It is supposed to me a misdemeanor not a felony, but you are treated like a felony. The number of cases go up because of DUI checkpoints, which are actually a violation of search and seizure. The .08 limit is a joke, most people can blow a .08 and be fine. The tests are a joke also. They tell you to stand on one foot, but what if you have foot or back problems, and you are standing on a sloping sidewalk. The statistics that DUI deaths are on the rise is a myth. I do feel bad for those that have died because of drunk drivers, but what the politicians tell you is not always the truth. Why is it that states propose different colored license plates for DUI offenders and not for child molesters. Drunk Drivers that got convicted screwed up, but that is no reason to make them suffer and their families suffer. Why can't a DUI offender find work, but they can find jobs for pedophiles?

I agree, it is much harder to find a good job with a DUI on your record. Many companies do background checks these days, and they really look down on this. I got a DUI 4 years ago which I really regret, but it is something that I must live with. I was a young single man, 22 years old just hanging out with the boys a little to often. Now I am 26 and married and rarely go out but when I do drink I always make sure I am not driving. I believe, I am completely different than I was back then, but I am still paying for those decisions. I was laid off 3 months ago and I am now looking for employment. I have been turned down 2 times now after having multiple interviews because of my DUI 4 years ago. I have no points on my drivers license and my insurance rates are back to normal. I have never even had a speeding ticket or been a fault in an accident, but I still cant get a job where i would drive a company vehicle.

A DUI will not affect your job search unless you need to DRIVE for the job.

People are impaired from safely operating a vehicle at .08, and every study conducted proves it. If you can find one that shows any other result, I'd love to see it.

Checkpoints for DWI have been ruled Constitutional by every court that has looked at the issue.

Don't try to justify your behavior. DWI is dangerous, and I'm glad you didn't kill or seriously hurt anyone else.

did you get a DUI? I do think the sobriety tests are ridiculous, I work night shift so I was driving at 3 in the morning and a cop pulled me over and made up that I was swerving from left to right over the road which was totall bs, and he made me stand outside on 1 leg and count to 30 in thousands and I was totally sober and could barely do it I got to 19 and was almost about to lose it and he said I could stop, I then talked to the police from the town I work in cause they stop in all the time ( it's a hospital) and I told them about it and they said it wouldn't be the first time that a sober person fails the test, it actually happens alot, and if your driving past 12 they will usually make up reasons to pull you over just to check

Pedophiles get their own website with their names and faces and what they have done plastered to the internet for everyone to see. Plus they have to go and introduce themselves to their neighbors as a pedophile, I would say having a different colored license plate is fair.

I have had a few friends die in drunk driving accidents when I was in high school, there is not sympathy for you here. It is wrong and you could go your whole life drunk driving and never hurt anyone, but there are millions more that do get hurt whether it is a fender bender or a death either way it probably could have been avoided if the person behind the wheel was sober like they should have been.

As for getting a job, you OBVIOIUSLY can't get a driving job with a DUI on your record but other jobs you can still get.

If you don't want to get in trouble don't disobey the law, it is as simple as that.

Its harder to find a job because it reflects on your character as you are reckless enought to risk another human beings life just so you can have a couple. The limit is set according to tests measuring reaction times just because you feel fine doesnt mean you are. Its better to set a higher standard and be safe than sorry. The different licence plate thing is ridiculous and i think peadophiles should have a peado sign, if theyre allowed to warn against drink drivers you should be able to be warned against peados
