Okay im under the age of 18. im 13. my living arrangement is horrible. i was wondering if i could be emancipated then move in with another family memeber. is that possible? and does maryland have any rules or regulations about it?

There are several factors involved and your current age would be at the top of the list of concerns.
Although Maryland has no emancipation law purse', it relies on common law and you can apply for emancipation under Maryland Family Law Code 3-826-1.
Things the judge considers:
Has the parents abandoned the minor?
Have the parents mistreated the child?
Have the parents stated that they have no desire to have control over the child and relinquish their parental rights,
Is the minor self - supporting.( paying their own way, not dependent on others).
Due to your age, IMHO, you would have a problem convincing any judge that you could take care of yourself at 13.
Why not talk with your parents, express your discontent, and see if they will permit you to live with other family members. that way, no hassle and everyone is in agreement. |
