We've nobody to vote for down here either, mate. The only difference between this "Labour" government and Thatcher's scum is that they've dropped the Tory attitude of open contempt for working people, and replaced it with lies and deceit.

To be honest with the questioner;New labour has been and still is a supporter of the policies and values of Margaret Thatcher.
When Tony Blair came to power in 1997;He openly admitted that not all the policies of Thatcher were bad and would keep many of them.
So that what we have now is a hybrid of political thinking (Labour and Conservative) so much so that as the questioner suggests there is hardly any difference between them.
But,Where did it all start to go wrong for the labour?
It started to go wrong for the Labour Party in the 1970s when they started to 'side line' and bypass ordinary working class candidates and go up market in favour of the Public Schoolboy and Public School girl in order to give it that up market look so now we have millionaire solicitors and business people even sitting on the Front Bench let alone on the Labour Back Benches.Now;the question must be asked;What have those millionaire Labour lawmakers have in common with the pensioner and one parent family living in a damp high rise flat?Of course the answer is nothing at all.
The only salvation for Labour after the coming catastrophic election is a proper re evaluation of their core values and start to recruit the genuine working class representitive in Parliament; So that the ordinary people can have a sympathetic voice.
Labour have forgotten the one cardinal rule of politics and is simply this!What the British Electorate giveth;They can also take away!
This oversight is going to prove very very costly in the forthcoming General Election.
The usual give-aways which Labour normally resort to just before an election will not save them this time; As they are in terminal decline!

I hope they do. It will give the Conservatives some of their policies back.

As Labour aren't going to get in at the next election they can keep the high taxation, stealth taxes and Speed Camera Tax.

Mind the mess they have left the country it will take the Conservatives another 10 years to pay it all back again, just in time for Labour to get back in and over spend again.. See a pattern appearing here.

Labour will never go back to the left. Sad but true - and the tories will get in in the next election, and then Labour will get in and we will continue on this cycle for ever and ever.

I agree with what you have said but no way will labour go back to how they where.That's what stopped them getting back into power.People
did not like unions having so much power.I have only ever voted labour
the tories crucified the north east so i personally never ever want to see them back in power.Yet i have a horrible feeling they will get in & then heaven help us.Forgot to say i will be voting UKIP.

Yes, Labour will go back to left wing values as long as people continue to support them who hold left wing values and do not chicken out. There is such a thing as party loyalty, I continue to support Labour whatever the right wing media smear them with or whatever they have got wrong, no one is perfect, but whenever I meet my local Labour councillors or party activists I know instinctively that they are 'my kind of people' as opposed to any of the other parties. Keep the faith.
