Ford V. Romo... Would Romo have gotten more money if the victims had only been injured?

I read here http://www.law.com/jsp/article.jsp?id=1069801648494 that by reducing the punitive damages awarded, they were setting up a system that would punish companies less for killing than for injuring. Is that true? and how much would Ford have been required to pay if the victims had been heavily injured? (a rough approximation or range is fine.)

That would usually be the case, with injuries severe enough to warrant a lawsuit the person would be entitled to lost wages as well as future medical causing a larger settlement than if the person were deceased.~
