They gave him a phone interview with the Appeals Tribunal. It was supposed to be a conference call between the tribunal and his former employer and him. The former employer never called in to discuss or dispute it. How well do you think this will work in my friends favor. The board still asked my friend a few general questions. (the employer had previously claimed that my friend quit and was not fired without cause)

Depends on why he was denied and to some degee on the judge. If he's appealing, he must make his case. By default, the original judgment stands. The party bringing the appeal usually has the burden of proof.

Um, they Forfeited. No-Call/No-Show for the appointed interview guarantees a No-Win. Your friend should be hearing from Unemployment Insurance soon. Usually a week or two. Especially since they didn't show up. |

Not showing up is never good for your team.
Since the employer did not dispute any of your friend's statements, the judge will have a hard time ruling against your friend. |

It could go either way but I don't think the "employer" is legally bound to attend the interview. |
