i got fired for not ringing in a drink.. i understand what i did wrong but the marriott has very strict policies that you cant just get fired without written warnings first. they fired me on the spot saying it was theft and they thought it was my friend ( which it was not )but i did not steal anything i simply forgot to ring in one of 4 rounds because i was busy closing etc etc..never happend in the 5 years i have been a bartender..maby that is considered theft? anyways if it is then they can suspend me and i have the choice to have a peer review or go to the gm and explain my side. i never got the choice to do any of those things and it clearly states in our handbook that i get that choice. They initially told me i would do one of those things but when i came in they handed me my check and said they have decided to teerminated me because i had warnings about other non relevant things such as being tardy in the past. Marriot policy you have to have 3 warnings about the same thing to suspend. They just got done doing lay offs and were looking to gret rid of one of the bartenders now they are denying my unemployment benifits. I have a appeal trial comming up do i have a chance of fighting this to unemployment. i dont care about getting fired im over it but i really need the benifits i have been out looking for jobs viciously everyday and have had no luck. i just feel that they fired me not according to their policy bc they had a feeling i wouldnt fight it and thats not fair i shouldnt be denied benifts i jsut want to know how to win this in trial

If you are fired, you do not recieve unemployment bennies.
If you are appealing, gather up as much info as you can to show your side - it is up to Marriott to prove your wrong doing. |

The other person is incorrect. I was fired for a similar thing and I get unemployment. Make the appeal, you'll probably win and get the benefits! Good luck! |
