Gov. Rick Perry of Texas wants to secede from the United States. Has He lost his mind?

Old news. Why don't you actually research a subject instead of just hearing from someone that heard from someone that heard from someone, etc.

He didn't say he wanted to secede from the U.S. He basically said he understands why some people want to. And those "some people" is a small minority that were at the rally. It does not represent the majority in Texas.

Perry never stated that he "wanted to secede the union." I believe he stated that some Texans have supported the notion, yet he also stated that it Texas would have more to loose from seceding the union.

I think that Perry, along with other Texans and other Americans are simply frustrated with our governments lack of action in such cases like our economic struggles.

No, he did NOT say that. He said that he had been approached by some who wanted to secede, and he could understand their frustrations.

Incidentally, Texas does NOT have the right to secede as many believe. According to the terms of their entry into the Union, they have the right to split into 5 states, each of which would have 2 senators. The right to secede does not exist for any state. You might recall a little war was fought on that subject?

What he said was:
"There's a lot of different scenarios, We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that? But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."

So pipe down, and get your facts straight.

Technically, by the terms of our annexation agreement, Texas has the right to secede. Texas would be a fairly powerful economy with a great infrastructure if we did.

However, we here in Texas have a word for those secessionists: "morons." Texas would have much more to lose than to gain from secession.

ElNicoli is right. Would really be a bad move for Texans...my family is all there and they think it's pretty nuts too regardless of having the "right" to do so!

no; he said that some Texans want to leave the union. He did not say he was among them. And SOME Texans have been trying to get out since the War of Northern Agression and never given up the idea.

Rick Perry is crook. He keeps pushing for the Texas trans corridor to go through. If it does he will be making a huge profit from it. Besides, he's double taxing Texans.

I never could understand why Texans are so strong held on Republicans. We need a Democrat in office!
