Gurkha's are mercenaries by definition can any mercenaries settle in a country of their employer?

A bit of a troll question I know but I just thought which way you think of about an issue.

OH Damien....... NO NO NO.... I don't think I could call them mercenaries. A typical mercenary is usually an ex military misfit, someone that is a fighter for any country in particular that usually works for the highest bidder.

In sharp contrast, the Gurkhas are an organised regiment and an elite unit within the British army. The British were so impressed with the gallantry of the Gurkhas in a war fought between the British East India Company army and them between 1814–1816, that they 'hired' them - as mercenaries initially. That does not mean that they are mercenaries now though. They also swear allegiance to the Queen. So how could you call them that? It's a very naughty thing to say.

HELP the Gurkhas right now. If you love these people and you haven't already signed it, please help Joanna Lumley's appeal and let them stay here if they want to.

If the Gurkha's are mercenaries why have they served Britain loyally for over two hundred years?
Surely a mercenary would fight for the highest payer and that would, most certainly not be the British government.

Our valiant Gurkha's have been treated like dogs for far too long. They are more deserving of a place in this country that most of the 'indigenous Brit' lazy-assed benefit-scroungers that live here unchallenged.
