2 weeks ago my husband was out of town and i woke up at 3am to masked men standing over my bed, shining bright flashlights into my eyes. To make a long story short, i was hogtied and gagged, while they ransacked my home for 2 hours, even stopping for cigarrette breaks! When they left, i remained bound for another 2 hours until i could scoot off of the bed and get to a phone, dialing 911 with my toes. Even then, i had trouble getting help, because i was not able to speak, due to being rather thoroughly gagged. The police eventually showed up and it took them twenty minutes to get me untied. I am now afraid to be at home alone.

No. I haven't but I would recommend you get a nervous little dog that is a light sleeper and a big gun. |

I am really sorry to hear about that.
Now is the time for a home security audit. Change the locks on the doors, ensure that all your windows lock and close property. Maybe consider a locking door for your bedroom or a home security system.
I also recommind you purchase a firearm and flashlight. A .38 special is a great weapon for for a woman, powerful enough to stop a man but light enough to control. It may not have helped you here, but G-d forbid, if there ever was a next time, your security audit may give you enough time to get the gun out and ready. You will feel much safer in your home with a gun on your belt. I live in a bad area and I sleep next to a loaded revolver.
When checking your home, keep the flash light to your side. Criminals will go towards the light, that's why cops never carry the light in front of them.
I wish you good luck getting over your fears, and I hope your in a state where you can get your new gun the same day you apply for it like the great state of PA. |

Alarm the house, get a shotgun and practice with it. Always make sure said alarm is on. Always make sure the gun is loaded. When alarm goes off, call cops, lock bedroom door and if anyone not dressed in a cop uniform comes in, blow them away. |
