Has anyone been subpeonaed to testify in court? How is the process like?

I was a witness to a crime and now have to go to court to testify. I am nervous but know I have to do it. So what should I expect?

You will show up and wait. And wait. And wait.

When you are called to the stand (unless the defendant enters a plea agreement at the last minute), answer each question honestly. Do not elaborate; answer only the question that is asked.

If you are puzzled about a question, ask the attorney or judge for clarification. Or state simply that you do not understand the question.

Speak up so the judge, jury, and court reporter can hear you clearly.

It is not like on TV. Judges do not let attorneys scream at witnesses.

All in all, it is an interesting experience.
