Yes - tried on a couple of expensive designer tops in a little boutique in my town. Neither of them looked right, so I put them back on the rails. As I walked down the street, the shop assistant came charging after me holding an empty coathanger in her hand. Apparently it was left in the changing room, which she was meant to check every time it was used. I let her rummage through my bag; of course she found nothing but then demanded I go back to the shop and take off my clothes! I told her to ring the police if she wanted me to do that, and just walked off. Crazy silly bint should've done her job properly in the first place! |

I have been accused, wrongfully! I was in Belk in Aberdeen NC and they grabbed me because I spoke to gut who was actually stealing. If you go inside of Belk in Aberdeen NC be careful they are watching you and the will accuse you of stealing even if the cameras show that you were not! |

No, I don't and I teach my kids to avoid that too... It is a nightmare when I do shopping and my little one just take something and do... I have to get back and explain what happened, Even if it is a chewing gum. But most of the time I am on my guard and ...no , I am not a shoplifter |

Yes. When I was just a young kid my father and I had gone to a dime store. I was looking at cheap, but very colorful bracelets while he shopped for some plumbing supplies. When he checked out the lady at the counter asked him to pay for the bracelets I had stolen. There were none! My father totally unloaded on this lady in my defense. Still makes me feel good that he believed in me on that occasion. I never shoplifted and after that happened I never did because I didn't want to disappoint my father. |

It never went that far, but I did get stopped once after I'd left a shop. My friend are were about 13 at the time, "Miss Selfridge" had not long opened in London, and we were so excited to have shopped there. Someone forgot to take a security tag of one of our purchases, so the alarm went off when we left the store. We were only a few feet outside, chatting excitedly about having done this trendy shop, when a sales assistant ran up and accosted us! I was mortified and very scared, but I did have the presence of mind to insist that SHE carry the bag back into the shop as I didn't want everyone staring at me. It was horrible, and they didn't even apologise when they realised it was their mistake. Totally ruined the day for us. |

NO.
My husband works in retail and theives are the bane of his life. He spends as much time dealing with these scum as he does running his store. He has been attacked on countless occasions with knives, bats, chains, etc, but he is given no protection by the government as they treat shoplifting as a soft crime. |

Nope.
There was this one time that the cashier didn't charge me for sweets though. Either it was a special offer or she didn't see it. Either way I put the sweets into my bag in front of her eyes and still she said nothing, so I assume it was a special offer (even though there was no sign). |
