Your dad asked you point blank if there was something you wanted to tell him, which means he already knew. You lied. What did you think was going to happen?
Let me let you in a few things:
1. You already received extreme grace and mercy. You should have been arrested, and at that point your daddy wouldn't have found out from his buddies, but from you when you called him to bail you out.
2. In most cities across America, going 20 miles over the speed limit is an automatic arrest. The ONLY reason you didn't get arrested is because of who your daddy is. Again, extreme mercy and grace for you AND for your dad.
3. You have hurt your dad -- not just because his name is dad, but because he's a police officer. How do your dad's peers look at him, knowing his kid is out there being a wild child? Did you ever think about that?
4. You did something wrong. You knew you were doing something wrong. You didn't care. You got caught. You lied about it. Now you're whining over your punishment? Take it like a grown up and be responsible for your actions. Don't you think it's kind of silly for being angry at your dad for what YOU did?
5. If you hadn't been speeding, you wouldn't have been caught with the blunts in the car. If you didn't have the blunts in the car, the police officer wouldn't have told your dad. You would have had a ticket and nothing more. If your daddy weren't a police officer you'd be in jail.
6. MOST IMPORTANTLY, if you didn't want to get caught, you wouldn't have been speeding, nor would you have had blunts in the car, regardless of who they belonged to. You wanted to get caught, you wanted your dad to find out, and you weren't sorry when you apologized. You need to tell your dad that because there's a bigger problem brewing than just a couple of blunts. |
