this was due to an argument my mother and I were in
1. she told me to get my stuff and get out
2. told to take it to my camper..yes mine not theirs
3. do not come in their house without permission
4. she said since i am **** i should start living in **** nice huh? cant prove abuse though its been around for years. other family members have always known about it except they do not want to create a taboo between relatives so have been stuck there to put up with it.
Does this mean I can hook up the camper to my truck and leave? have informed our school police officer and he said he would have to ponder on the situation some before getting back to me....
A) Grad May 21st
B) turn 18 May 31st
the camper was a gift from my uncle and my truck has both mine and my fathers name on it..he has been paying insurance on it becase my internship doesnt pay enough for gas, food ect.
I have a place to go all i really need to know is if them putting me out means i am basically emancipated or at least free to go.. am going to stay here till finish school

Your parents are legally obligated to support you until you are 18. In effect they are breaking the law, so if you leave they can't then claim you are a runaway.
However, to be legally emancipated you have to get a court order. Considering you have about 31 days left to being a minor, I'd leave and not worry about it. You can wait a month to make any legal contracts, etc.
If the vehicles were gifts or you paid for them with your own money, you are probably entitled to get clear title to them when you are 18. In some states the titles would go like "John Jones as parent of Molly Jones" and under the law you could get the title changed once you are 18. In other states both names go on the title; in others only the parent can own the vehicle but it is still yours and most courts would ultimately order him to sign it over to you if you establish that you bought it.
If you go you are going to be responsible for insurance and all of your life's expenses however... |
