How can I can I get an Internet company to refund my money?

Ok 4 months ago I ordered something from an Internet company called Fireplace Gateway for $349.00. This item was on backorder. I waited 2 months and cancelled my order since the order had not come in. Make a long story short after 10 requests to cancel and a confirmation from them that they will send my a check for my refund, still nothing. Please help. What is my next step.
Additional Details
I tried the number and it an answering service you have to leave a message. The refund through the credit did not work because it was past 60 days(due to the backorder)

If you paid by credit card call your credit card company. Also you might want to try emailing the internet company again. Tell them that you haven't received a check yet. If email doesn't work you might want to try calling them during normal business hours. |

If you paid by credit card (NOT with a debit card) you have the right to 'dispute' the charge. The credit card company will contact the vendor, and you'll be surprised how much quicker they reply to Visa then they do your e-mails.
This is why you should ALWAYS pay with a credit card on-line. While you need to be careful not to spend more than you can afford, credit cards provide the best protection against deadbeat vendors and identity thieves.
Debit cards are not credit cards, although they pretend they are. Your debit card provides no dispute rights, and if someone steals the number, most banks will not refund your money when some guy is buying a new TV with your cash... |
