How can I get CPS to follow through on a report?

My son is 9 and his Dad and I share custody. He has had a long history of excessive, and sometimes bizzarre punishments. There have been times when he spanked our son up to 20 times, has left bruises, makes him hold up books for 30 minutes to 2 hours at a time, and lets his wife emotionally terrorize him with favortism. She treats her own kids well enough but my son always seems to get left out of family activities, parties, and simple choices, like breakfast options (he has to eat plain oatmeal and the other kids get to choose between cereal, oatmeal or waffles). In the past, whenever my son has told people about the things that go on, he has gotten retaliatory punishments and I am worried that CPS will investigate, then drop the case, empowering them to continue. His school and myself have filed reports with CPS and I want to make sure they follow through. What is the best way to make sure the case is handled thoroughly?

Take photographs of the marks left on your child. Then march your butt to the police station & file a report. They will interview your child & from there the state will take over so that something is done. Sounds like the school is already aware of this so get their attorneys involved as well. |

Make DAILY progress report calls. Social workers are BZ with too many cases. But if they have to focus on one just to keep you from calling, they'll look into it everyday just to give you an answer to get you off of the phone. Stay polite though! |

You really need to start a log, and jot down everything that relates to when u call and you need to also call your lawyer, file for full custody. f*** that guy your x i mean. |

ITS NOT RIGHT WHAT THEY ARE DOING. YOU SHOULD GET YOUR SON OUT OF THERE. BESIDES CPS WONT DO ANYTHING UNLESS YOU GO TO THE POLICE OR TO THERE SUPERVISOR. AND KEEP ON CALLING CPS TAKE PICTURES AND WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN ITS SOUNDS LIKE ALOT BUT IF YOU LOVE YOUR SON YOU WOULD DO IT 4 HIM ANYWAYS. NOT YELLING JUST LIKE TO USE CAPS LOCK |

Speak with the attorney who handled your custody case. This person can give you practical guidance and direction on the best course of action for the safety and well being of your child. She/He won't be able to do much but they can get you headed in the right direction.
There are several public services available to you to help support your case. You need to have some compelling evidence for CPS to stay with it.
Keep the faith and don't let the system grind you down. There is nothing more important than the welfare of your child. |
