How can I get a guilty plea taken off my record when my case dropped completely?

I received a background check from a job I had applied for. 11 years ago I had a charge which was dropped and never taken to court. I just received the background check and the charge is on there stating I plead guilty which I did not. So for the past decade I have been applying for numerous jobs and been denied and now I finally know why. How can I get this plea taken off my record?

I hired a lawyer and the case was dropped because lack of evidence. I never even went to court.

If you plead then you were convicted, which means the conviction is one your record.
If this never happened you have to go to the court where it says it happened and talk to the clerk there.

It gets dropped when your probation is up and then it should be expunged. If it is not expunged which is obvious from your question, find out from the clerk of the court where the charge occurred the procedure for getting it expunged from your record.
