My wife and I are in dept over our heads. My wife was laid about three months ago. she is drawing unemployment and I am on disability. We lost our house and had to move into a mobile home. We are being costantly harrassed by bill collectors and now car is being houded by the repo man. We have lost so much by pawning our most valuble things to pay the small bills especialy our wedding rings. We want to file a chapter 13 but can not afford a lawyer. We live in Robinsonville Mississippi. Thank you

Ugh - this type of story is so common now a days. I'm sorry to hear that.
You'd actually need a debt consolidator - not an attorney. The debt consolidator can assist you in paying off the bills, or, he can advise you to file for bankruptcy.

First off, congratulations on laying your wife 3 months ago!!
Second I would suggest some online searches for legal aid. Also call your courthouse and speak to the clerk, they might have some resources for you!
Also if your cars are paid for they can't take them, in the meantime unless they're a third party collection firm they're going to keep calling you! |
