How can we say killing is wrong if we sanction killing for criminals?

In some cases, killing is acceptable. In defense of self or others, for instance. And, yes, executions can be acceptable.

It's the unlawful killings (the definition of murder) that's wrong.

What's really bad is that the government sanctions the killing of little babies in abortion clinics. What kind of mother (and father) would sanction the killing of their child? What crime did the child commit? Even if the child is the product of a rape or incest, isn't the child innocent?
I think you will agree with me that the killing of innocent human life is a crime, and those who commit it should be,at the very least, incarcerated.

The ones killed USUALLY are innocent of crimminal behavior...We also set that standard as killing is the worst you can do...so if you do it it will be repaid to you..it IS a Deterrant....

Because monsters like Jeffrey Dahmer and BTK, etc. made the choice to savagely murder over and over again. The death penalty should stand, the only thing that should change is how it is used. Serial rapists and murderers should be killed, no exception. Its fantasy to think that death is never deserved. If someone wants to torture, rape and kill we will catch them and kill them. That is a message worth sending.

I believe the punishment has always suited the crime. An eye for an eye.

Edit: honestly, I would rather they spent the rest of their lives in a prisons general population, so they could be punished everyday for the rest of their miserable lives but, that seems in humane.

Edit 2: a government does not decide if someone is put to death, that is decided by a jury of their peers.

God has always been a bit ambiguous about killing. One of the Ten Commandments is "Thou shalt not kill," yet He seemed to condone all of the killing of pagans that the Israelites did when they arrived at the Promised Land.

I believe killing is justified if the person being killed is too much of a threat to oneself or society. Capital Punishment is justified as the criminals sentenced to death pose too great of a threat to the rest of society to allow to continue to live, even in prison.

I think any kind of killing is wrong. It just baffles me that the government get the right to decide whether a criminal get to live or not. It's like they're trying to play God and nothing good can come from that. I also wonder how a person could murder some one and be forever banned from society but the man who injects that lethal poison [ who I also consider a murderer] get to go home every day and on top of that gets paid for it! There's so much wrong with this government but I'm a total believer on what goes around comes around. we'll see on judgement day.
