Try talking to your husband about it. Ask things like "do you hear funny noises when you use our phone?", "I hear clicking and stuff when I use the phone - can you take a look at it?", etc.
Sounds like your husband is possibly suspicious and the two of you don't have good communication. |

Just 'tween you and me....if the government was monitoring your phone and internet, you'd never know it.
Since it sounds like a clumsy, half-assed job, you might want to make sure it isn't your significant other checking up on you. |

Yep, I'm with the others~NO WAY is the government involved, because as they said, you would never know it. But I would sure try and find out why hubby had the closet door locked! That's a little too weird. I would have picked the lock and done a little investigating on my own;) Sounds like HE is the one that's hiding something. No Way would I allow a locked door in my own home!!! I'm sure that you could go to your local Radio Shack or whatever, and buy the stuff to record your own phones traffic, so maybe that's what he's doing? I'd be careful..IF you have anything to hide~ He's probably watching everything you do on your computer too.
Good Luck! |

sounds like your husband doesn't trust you.. if you're implying that he got the government to tap your lines... not possible. unless he managed to find someone that would listen to a rant of "my wife may be a domestic terrorist"... |

of this you can be sure I know what i'm talking about.
first, no one just walks to a trunk line, and taps the line they want. There are too many wires in there and finding the right pair is next to impossible.
next, many areas are upgraded to optic cable and you can't just go cut an optic cable and find the call, you would need a multiplex unit, a decoding unit and all kinds of other gear, way to expensive.
Next tapping a phone 101. The way phones are tapped is that a physical line is attached to your phone. a recorder is used that starts to record as soon as the line voltage, 48VDC is dectected. (there is no other way currently available to would be phone tapping people. do not believe what you see on TV)
if homeland security was tapping your phone, first you need to ask yourself why, but the tap would be done at the phone company and you would never know or be capable of detecting it. no clicks, no lousy service or anything like that.
Now if your internet is subject to scrutiny, and it is, that is another matter, you have not asked about it, so I will not even go into how that is done, but that is easier, faster, more cost effienct than tapping a phone.
I would suggest to you that you have a tech come in when no one is there except you, and the tech physically go over every inch of the line. you could have a break in the thing, unlikely though. someone in the home or next door could have tapped the phone for some reason, it is not that uncommon anymore for someone to hide cameras in the house to watch you. as sick as it is, it is reality. cameras are so small anymore also. I have one that is about the size of a dime that is attached to my RC helocopter and takes great photos when I fly it. It records real time or photos every x seconds. The tech should look for that.
If you find something, photography it, and call the FBI if you don't think it is a family member. This is still a felony in the united states and if your line is being tapped, someone needst to be caught.
if it is a family members, I would question why they are doing this, do they suspect you are having an affair........quit spending so much time here and have a life
I hope this answers your questions. but deal with it carefully, evidence tends to stick around to be found, if you know where to look. |

Why would your husband tap your phone? Does he work for homeland security? Are you making terrorist threats publicly? This question is confusing. Unless he suspects that you're doing something you shouldn't and doesn't have the courage to confront you with it himself, I don't see a reason that he would be tapping your phone.... |

What you are hearing is cross talk. There is probably a stray wire in the phone box that is laying across your posts and someone else's posts. If your line was being tapped, you would never know.

Probably a inexperienced person doing something to your line. This person apparently thinks you have something to hide. The only way HLS will tap a line, call Iraq or Iran and visit in Arabic with someone on the other end. That will wake them up and make them take notice.
Most taps are done from a central office and they don't have to come to your house and do a second rate job of tap the phone. You can get stuff from local shops to put cameras and mics and tap someones phone for cheap. |

If he is tapping your conversations divorce him...thats horrible.
If I were you I would just get on the phone with a girl friend and talk about the great affair you are having with the pool boy or any guy for that matter and say how you hope your husband does not find out then at the end say HAHAHA just kidding honey but I know what you are up to :) |

If the government had a valid reason to tap your phone, you would not hear any noises or clicking, they are not amateurs.
Why not ask your husband why he is/was locking the closet? |

You can't tap phone legally without court order. There are devices to detect this, at your local "Spy Store". Online will offer similar devices, go to Ebay. The technician could be his source for a tap, not legal of course.
The bigger question is, why would he want to tap your phone? Are you giving him reason? |
