How do I get in contact with the person who has the copyright of a song?

I am a student in high school who is in the band. My hobby is to create movies. Whenever I use copyrighted songs in the movies I create, I need to get permission by the person or group that owns the copyright of the song. If anyone knows, just answer back. Thank You very much!

Contact the publisher on the music and they will put you in touch with the proper entities.
It's not a difficult or involved process, but it can take them months and months and months to respond (especially in the case of Irving Berlin's music, for some reason), so get your requests in early, edit them as you will and hopefully by the time (if) they're ready to be broadcast/shown, you'll have the ok. |
