How do I legally reproduce a photo for a dance recital program?

I am putting on a dance recital and our theme is "Music Icons." We are using songs from a variety of artists such as The Beatles, Elvis Presley, etc. Our plan was to have each page in the program devoted to one of the artists, including a short bio and a picture of the artist. Can I do this legally with pictures I get off the internet or will I just have to leave the photos out? I don't want to get into trouble for copyright infringement. I do pay music licensing fees yearly so I'm allowed to use the music, but don't know how to go about using pictures for the program.

Most likely the photographs (I'm assuming taken within the last 50-60 years) are still under copyright protection. One way to get permission is by contacting the copyright owner. In most cases, the copyright owner for a photograph will be the photographer.
For Elvis photographs, I did a quick Google search and found the link below which is operated by Elvis Presley Enterprises. There may be similar official and legal sites for other artists from which you can purchase pictures. When you do purchase the pictures, be sure to carefully read the terms of use of the license.
