yes they do, i personally know 2 people who have. The internet companys are not monitoring everyones internet use, but when a person downloads massive amounts of music it shows up as a spike on their bandwidth and might be grounds to investigate that person. |

Like 1 in 1928579102951 people gets caught, but when they do, it's because they traced the file to their computer.

ok so basically. u dont really get caught. its possibe but highly unlikey. limewire is legal software. that kinda does illegal things so youre ok. Now ive herd of people getting caught. but they literally have thousands of copied things. they download songs movies to the extremes. people pick up on this stuff. So unless you download 300,000 songs. 400 movies and so what. dont worry cuz u aint got nothen to worry about. |

They do, it is the sharing. I saw something on a woman who had to pay hundreds of thousand for sharing songs through one of these!

It has to be through the IP adress. The Gnutella network that Limeware and BearShare share pretty much announces the computer's IP address. Ask the provider afterworth who is using that IP address and boom, caught. |

through their internet service providers. no matter what you do on a computer, you leave some sort of trace, especially if you do things online.

The company that owns the copyright to the material you downloaded will obtain your IP address from Limewire. Then they call your ISP and get your personal info and sue your butt. Heres how to not get caught.....
1. Control yourself. Dont download whatever you can get illegally
2. Dont download the latest and greatest music, software, etc. Companies normally dont care very much about their old copyrighted stuff.
3. Once you download something, move it out of your 'shared' folder so that you are not distributing illegal material. |

because they are smart enough to do something like download off of a unprotected wireless signal so someone can collect there data and use it against them in a lawsuit... |
