It is meant to be aimed towards lawyers or debaters who avoid answering a question because they claim that the other side is using a word wrong.

I hope that you are not the type of person who would vote against me for disagreeing with you. Although I agree that the ideal debate would have the opposing parties not quibble over irrelevant wording issues, I think there are a good number of cases that require tedious word choice and definitions.
There are times when word choice can alter the qualification of a crime or conclusion. For example, imagine that " x" , " y" , "z", and "w" are words with different but similar definitions. If a certain law x requires the actions y and z in order to be broken, then arguing that the person did w is irrelevant. For example the words " take" and "steal." I can prove that you took something but can I prove the you stole it? Maybe, maybe not. It doesn't matter. What matters is that I use the right word in the right argument at the right time.
Like I said, I don't like to quibble over word choice but I think in many cases it is very important. But in order to be a sharp and accurate debater ,or just any speaker by that matter, then word choice is very important.
A counter quote I would have is: " Those that unknowingly use a word with the wrong definition are shooting in the dark and hoping to hit the target. That's why I'm "afraid."
