How does acceptance of a unilateral agreement differ from that of ordinary agreement?

acceptance of a unilateral agreement might mean you agree because "everyone else" thinks it's true. Ordinarily agreement means you may take some more time to think about it on your own terms...

This is the difference of an across the board agreement, let's say for management and the implementation of something. and an ordinary agreement might not on the other hand need any paperwork signed therefore the aforementioned would HAVE to be of more *note* and entail at least a majority ruling to be called unilateral agreement......OK? Thank You!!!!!!!!!!

"unilateral" makes it sound more official and important.

at least two parties or more have to agree to something. e.g. unilateral agreement between countries to hit the irani government members on their dirty fingers if they don't stop their nuclear program.

An orinary agreement is just an every day's life agreement. e.g. decide to go shopping.

unilitaterial agreement is a contract agreement then a ordiary agreement

Ummmmmmmmm...............hello?
A unilateral agreement has ALREADY been accepted.
Accepting something which was unilaterally (100% w/out opposition) agreed upon is extremely redundant.
So, let's see, do you guys sit around in board meetings making motions and seconds and granting the floor, etc., unanimously/unilaterally agree, and then, for the sake of the boredom of the board, vote again?

uni means one and that means one proposed and the other accepted it, whereas a regular agreement is done with two or more parties in consensus

The word unilateral has a Latin root. Uni is one and lateral means side. So a unilateral agreement is one sided. It is agreed by one party without the other parties necessarily agreeing also.

In a normal agreement all parties agree.

witchtriumvirate
Your acceptance of an agreement renders it bi-lateral. Shame on you!

judgedredd_4_u
what the hell does that mean

BOB'S being unilateral here and getting his 2 points in...be-on that WHO CARES

experience
Well, I suppose it means that all parties are equal.

Sarah
In a unilateral agreement, there is no acceptance until the requested act has been performed.

I don't think anybody yet has said it better than this.

I would think a unilateral agreement would be "one-sided", which in my opinion is not an agreement at all.
I would think in an agreement ALL would have to agree thus illiminating the term "unilateral".

I could be wrong, but this sounds logical to me.

I think it means that you accept or agree whole heartedly with all points of the agreement! And if there are several people agreeing to the same thing it is agreed upon unilaterally or across the board.
As if all parties are of one mind of agreeing with all points, as one mind.

UNILATERAL AGREEMENT IS JUST 1 PERSON, WHEN AN ORDINARY AGREEMEMT IS TWO PEOPLE MAKING AN AGREEMENT

If it happens in the future we can get more stuff going on and also we have to make sure it happens every time we get to do all of the neat stuff going on that's great for us and the others.

Unilateral means one-sided. So I would assume that accepting a "unilateral agreement" would mean accepting a one-sided agreement, rather than an equal one.

who cares?

Ordinarily an agreement is a bilateral 'agreement' on certain terms / obligations etc. as detailed in the Agreement. An unilateral agreement would amount to an offer, Acceptance of which amounts to a Contract between both the parties on the terms / obligations etc. as stipulated in such offer. Both are legal contracts but in a bilateral agreement both are on rather equal terms for example Supplier and Receiver of goods. Unilateral agreements would normally be offered to employees etc. who are expected to perform obligations as stipulated in the document.

Unilateral agreement is a contradiction. 2 or more either agree with terms or they don't.

"Unilateral" usually means "one-sided". Normal agreements usually are between at least two, or more, independent parties. Therefore, the difference would be the amount of "parties" involved in the matter of coming to accord.

chuck
An unilateral agreement just affect one side. There are many different type of agreements. Like if u do something than I will do some thing. An ordinary agreement is just an agreement where the usual thing always happens.

one is vocal between two people the other is a written agreement

DallasBlue
UNILATERAL CONTRACT. An agreement to exchange payment for services, where payment becomes due only once the service has been successfully performed. A listing agreement for the sale of real property may be a unilateral contract.
An ordinary agreement between two persons even if verbal is binding, though may be hard to prove.

veronica
A unilateral agreement is not valid. In order for an agreement to be valid there needs to be - as laywers say - a consideration.

Agreements without a consideration on the other part - and a considerable consideration that counterweiths the agreement is not valid - so not binding in a court of law.

Such agreements are always reached under coercion - and agreements reached under coercion are nul and invalid - without intercedance of a court of law.

How can you have a unilateral agreement? An agreement must be between at least TWO PARTIES (Bi-lateral.)

?

Unilateral agreement is concessions on both sides that allow both parties to agree on the particulars.

As others have said >>>>

If you accept a 'unilateral contract' it simply means that you accept a binding contract of what is presented to you without your opinion or thoughts being included.

After signing, you have absolutely NO INPUT!
