How legally protected is someone by their dog passing the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) test?

Some breeds are naturally protective even without formal training.
What states can an intruder sue in for dog attack?
How about Georgia? I heard that this state protects owners more... don't know if it's true.

that is a site I found on the subject, but I can't find a state list.

Anyone can sue anyone for anything or nothing. So, an intruder can sue you if he gets bitten by your dog. As long as your home owner's insurance company knows about the dog, it will provide the defense. Very few juries are going to award damages to the intruder although it has happened. A canine good citizen certificate is a good thing but if you have a jury that's wacko enough to even consider awarding damages to the intruder, it doesn't really matter if the dog walks on water in the summer. Your insurance policy should cover any award.

A dog that attacks someone unlawfully entering you home, is considered the same as a weapon. If they (bad guys) are unlawfully entering your home remember these 7 words

"I was in fear for my life"

Any case they bring against you will be dismissed

They can sue in every state but probably will only win in California. If someone breaks into your home in Georgia and your dog bites them the police will probably tell them they're lucky they didn't get shot.

I don't think that you are fully protected. because it still a dog a still can turn on the owner or some innocent person. and is very capiable of biteing someone.

Chrys
you aren't...you're only REALLY protected if you have INSURANCE (house insurance with a pet rider) and keep the dog leashed and muzzled when out...(I know the dog is trained, but a dog is a dog...)

?
What you are asking all depends on where the incident happens, just like shooting an intruder. I seriously suggest you contact the local humane society or animal control. They will give you the most honest answer. I know there are breeds that are considered the worst of the worst but I have found there are breeds listed which are the most docile and it has to be because of the way these animals were treated. Can't prove that but since I have worked as a vet tech, kennel employee and dog washer(as a teen), I feel secure enough to say, it depends on raising, like kids. Where I live now considers Labradors to be vicious, ain't figured that out yet. Met protective Labs but not aggressive. And that is what they were bred for. Great family dogs.

I have heard that all dogs get 1 free bite.....then the owner is fined $10,000. But as a Christian why would you want an aggressive dog?
It is morally not good to own a killer dog.
